First of all, try to not artificially grow out your profiles. "SEO" sites like LinkCollider can only hurt you in the long run, no one will interact with your social media pages despite having thousands of "followers". You can use it to give yourself a boost at the start, but I would personally not put much effort into it.
To gain traction online you need presence. What does "presence" mean, you may ask? Well, it simply signifies your activity on the internet. Sharing your blog and/or articles isn't enough to build a profile. Start by filling out the basic information required on every site and write a short bio, whenever someone visits your profile that person will notice you're not just an online billboard.
You can also interact with people from your "spheres". For example, if you have a blog about food it would be a good idea to find creators with the same interests and start commenting on their posts. You'll probably not see immediate results, but after a while growth will surely be present. Creating bonds with like-minded people is an important step in improving your online presence.
Be consistent. Consistency is key to gradual growth, don't let a single day escape without tweeting an article or flipping an interesting story. People will choose to follow you or not based on your profile and activity, both need to be taken care of if you ever want to have a big following.
Interact with your subscribers/followers too, consistently ask them questions even if no one answers them at first. Many persons like to see creators that talk to their supporters, as many as they are. It will be weird at start, but it's a common growth scheme.
After you've built a following traffic will organically start coming to your articles/blog. For example, if you continually flip stories on Flipboard you're bound to get followed by some creators that will return the favor, little by little you'll start to notice that every time you share something on the site it gets picked up instantly.

Starting off is rough, you'll probably not see that much growth for a while, but once you get the ball rolling it will hardly stop. Remember, build up your profiles as good as possible and be active continually on every social media. Be-friend creators and at the same time be friendly to everyone. Interaction is key, don't forget that.
