Wedding Photography : Most of the photographers make money through wedding and events. If you're good at taking photos of various events then this can be a good option. It can make you good money if you know how to capture such moments. Your skills for taking angles and light will be tested here. And you need to be good at using Photoshop. If you have proper network and contacts then you'll also get regular leads which can make even more money. Wedding photography can make you anywhere from 1000$ to 18000$.

Landscape Photography : This is very popular type of photography. Here you are supposed to capture sunset, beach, sunrise, mountain, road etc. You may also find the nature photography under landscape category. So if you get leads from magazines like National geography, then you'll make some decent money. Landscape photography has lot of competition and it's not easy to take those shots that sell. If you're lucky you'd land a good deal and make anywhere from 1200$ and above per gig.

Stock Photography : There are some of the websites that allows you to post pictures for royalty sales. Most popular websites in this category are - shutterbug, dreamstime, shutterstock etc. Most of these websites expect you to use professional equipment for image quality. So your iPhone and other smartphone images don't qualify. However there are some of the websites like Foap that does accepts the images from smartphone. You can make some decent money anywhere from 5$ to 500$. Though it's not easy to sell your images, but you need to keep uploading images to multiple sites. Diversifying does pay in stock photography.

Portrait Photography : In this type of photography, you'd get leads from people who want to capture family moments. Like wedding photography, these leads can be random. Often the portrait may also include taking images of pets and other people within family. And using the light and angle at right time is necessary. You need to find clients through word of mouth at first and also be ready to diversify in other types of photography. This way you can keep the business going during the off season. Portrait photography can make you money from 800$ onward.

Photography Coaching : Teaching skills to others can make good regular income. Photography tutoring is very much in demand. You have to learn how to teach others the skill that made you money. Photography coaching can pay you anywhere from 600$ onward per person per class. Many photographers who can't go into the fieldwork often tutor others and make money. You can also record the videos and sell them on private website. There are some of the websites like udemy, skillskool etc where you can sell coaching photography packages.

Making money with photography is not an easy task. You need to work really hard than others to sell your skills. And there is also less assurance of making regular money. However, If you work seriously and consistently then photography skills can make you some good money both actively and passively.
