For my immediate family I wrap presents in cloth (it's a Japanese thing, called https://japanesetaste.com/blogs/japanese-taste-blog/furoshiki-japan-s-cloth-wrapping-gift-to-the-world ). It saves on wrapping paper, so it's better for the environment. I got pieces of pretty cloth from the fabric remnants bin at a fabric store and cut them to size and we use the same ones every year. For gifts for other people outside our family I use paper though because if I give the cloth away every time I have to keep buying more.

A buffet restaurant? That would be less stress than cooking for a large family. It's not really an option where I live though. There aren't many restaurants with buffets any more. Also, there are people with different diet needs, and sensory needs. It's also more stressful for parents to have to keep an eye on children in a public place compared with at home, makes it hard to relax and enjoy the event.

Cash for gifts is fine if that's what people want. It is a little impersonal though, so not everybody likes it. Gift vouchers is another option. Some people also like donations in their name to charities, which is also less stressful than shopping for gifts since you can do it online or over the phone. I guess you can gift shop online too, but you know what I mean, there's less shopping around.

I am now torn between 2 places.

I am an elf and have been planning on placing gifts at my church.

However...

I was at the library a few days ago where there is a huge box for gifts to be placed to help out Santa Claus.

This elf is stressed! ;)

In October?! Wow, they start early. It's just Halloween decorations and stuff here at the moment. Christmas prep will start in November.

The start of this year has been a little rough for me finacially and to top it off our counrty was one of those that was affected by drought and we ended up having a power shut down upto twenty one hours plus every day for domestic users. I was almost going to having a nightmare of Christmass but thank goodness i got a new job and starting October i will be out of the probation. This will allow me to save some cash just for November and get to have some wonderful Christmass for me and my Family.

When i get my next month salary i will most definetly apply some of the advice and tips that have been shared here and come next year i will follow suit and be more prepared then.
