Modern rice can last up to a year if stored properly. That's what my family does. We just stock two bags at a time ans relax since we eat it everyday. That can last us for 6 months at least.

If you are a wine lover, you can stock it up like a 100 bottles and be sure that you would have them get sweeter with time while they save you from the daily increase in prices of wine.

I watched a documentary movie where one old lady collect honey in wildernes. She keep some stashes in mountain in snow as reserves. It is like natural refrigerator.
