That's interesting @
Angie10, in what ways do you use critical thinking to your advantage? I ask because I would like to improve my ability in this area.
Thanks so much, @Fergal

So, when I was with my former employer in the UK (Pearson) these skills were instilled in every customer service colleague through ongoing training. In fact, even through the interview process, you had to prove that you possessed them. I went one further and did 2 customer service NVQs where I reinforced the skills and excelled at it because it really spoke to my way of thinking and the jobs I tend to do, particularly those that involve customer relations.
I'm not sure I can answer the howin respect to yourself LOL But these skills lend themselves to the way we interact with others around us in our day to day lives. For instance, I easily transferred them to my job in the media, and even now as a teacher, they come in handy. In my view, if you are a decent person, which I believe you are, you're halfway there.
Most people, including yourself, already have these skills without knowing or necessarily slapping a label on them. For instance, being fair/objective, respectful, emotionally intelligent etc. Also, being able to quickly analyse situations and problems, having the ability to rationally and sometimes creatively coming up with solutions to complex scenarios, all essential to excellent service delivery, are also applicable elsewhere.
Where were you wanting to apply your critical thinking skills?
