High social media presence also helps. I always comment of the most recent hashtag on twitter so people will notice my profile.

I'm old so I can tell you this true story about the day my boss purchased a word processor for the office. He was forward thinking and thought that the secretaries would love using a word processor instead of a typewriter. Some of the secretaries didn't want to be trained to use it. I wasn't a secretary, but I wasn't going to let the lack of training stop me from learning how to use it. I jumped on that machine and taught myself.

The online world is just like the offline world. It's SINK or SWIM! So if you want to survive in the online world, then learning SEO (search engine optimization), as well as SMM (social media marketing), are survival skill you should develop. I know I don't have to be Super SEO Girl. But I have to at least have develop a working knowledge.

Remember, you don't have to learn everything all at once. Start with the basics and gradually expand your knowledge.
