When I had a Google+ account, I also had Google+ business pages. When they closed that social network, I thought that my pages disappeared. But it turns out that when I am watching YouTube videos I can “switch accounts”. I have a foodie account and it is linked to my food blog. So when I am watch cooking videos, I switch accounts so that videos I like and channels I subscribe to get associated with my foodie channel. That helps the video creator and also helps create social signals for my foodie account and might send traffic to my blog.
