The difference is Witcher respects the source material, the other one is a Mary Sue sex fantasy of the director, like he have fantasies his wife is Superhuman so he makes this new character not in the games, played by his wife. Resident Evil movies is like watching a movie titled Batman but Batman is just a side kick of this new original character created by the director.

I am not into video games at all and this comes as a surprise to me that there have been movie adaptations of video games. Well, good that fans have platforms where they can voice their disapproval. This will make the movie makers take this adaptation seriously and hire people on the team...writers, director, script writer etc who are into video games and know well what they actually are doing. They should meet the expectations of the audience.
