I started making money online at age 12 and the only reason I go to college because my parents forced me to do so., I never had any use my degree. I made more money with stocks.
You can learn about the culture and arts just by reading, No need to go to a University for that. I can cook french cuisine without studying to a culinary school. I never learned English from school, I learned it myself. College is optional now. Just learn Coding or Marketing and you wont be needing it.
Not everyone has an interest in, or aptitude for, coding or marketing.
Yeah, you can learn some things about culture and the arts by reading, but it's harder to get the same quality of education that way. For myself, I have tried learning a language on my own, but I find it much easier having the structure and opportunities to practice that you get from doing a language course. That doesn't have to be through a university, but I mean something more in depth and hands on than an app like Duo Lingo. Likewise, I would think someone who goes to culinary school is going to find it easier to pick up the skills they need, and probably end up with better results, than someone learning on their own. That doesn't mean you can't learn another way, there's just a reason why people do it that way.
I also got a lot more out of a uni course in film studies than I did from watching movies. Besides the content, the uni experience was valuable to me for the friends and contacts I made. All of these things were more important to me than just getting a job, otherwise I would have chosen a more vocational course.
