I have just registered and awaiting approval of my account. Seems a promising site. Your tips will be used should I get the approval. I did not know one has to wait to be approve.

I have no idea what are you talking about.
There is no approval process of any kind in the Steemit.
The approval you are talking about is probably an Introduction post I mentioned which is not obligatory, but you are free to start posting when you want.
There is no email in the Steemit either, you are given a set of keys right during the signup- so... where do you plan to receive an approval?

There are services that comment, upvote and resteem members for small money, I am talking cents.
Earn something and then pay a service.
You can get a lot of followers, exposure and money in that way.

Update:
There are other ways how to earn cash from Steemit.
I will update it with some automation tools this weekend.
Let em know if anyone is interested to know about it.
