I have to say clicks. It showed the link was clicked on but I can't definitely say the content was read. I also have it set up so that I know when I subscriber has disabled their eMail and no longer want to receive the newsletter.

I never did get around to using Paper.li because we got a plugin and had a coder design a bespoke feature for us on our site. But I'm very interested in this Substack - I'll look it up and see if it's something that's worth exploring for our blog. Thanks for sharing that bit of information :)

When you say "they" I'm assuming Substack. With Paper.li, I put in a few RSS feeds and the paper automatically generates headlines based on that. However, with Substack you can do a lot of different things.

I share links from my articles or blog post with a quick blurb to get the reader's attention, hoping they will click-through and visit my monetized content.

Some people write articles specifically for their newsletter.

I think, although I have never used this feature, you can import your content from elsewhere and publish it via the newsletter.

I really like Substack. They are very flexible. Right now I offer a Free Subscription. But some publishers have Paid Subscriptions. Some publishers have Mixed Subscriptions. In other words, you can read a few articles free; but if you want to read more you have to pay for a subscription. Some publishers simply request a small donation to continue publishing. Pound for pound, Substack is way better than Paper.li.
