1. Snapchat
We are all aware of the app called Snapchat. Snapchat is a fun tool for sharing and retrieving ‘self destructive photos’ which are deleted after the person has seen it. Along with it you will be able to send video messages called ‘snap.’ It’s really a cool app with a major disadvantage in consuming a whole lot of your memory and battery life. If you monitor the data usage you will be surprised to see how much Snapchat uses.

2. Netflix
Netflix is an awesome app for watching TV shows and movies in your smartphone. Very handy. Yet it consumes a large amount of your battery’s energy making you to charge at the middle of your favorite show or movie. In order to save battery while using Netflix reduce your brightness as much as possible and keep it in a level that will not hurt your eyes.

3. Amazon shopping
This will be a problem for shopping lovers. Amazon app is a sneaky little app which drains your battery like nothing else as it runs in the background. It always keeps running in order to keep you updated of the discounts, sales and hot promotions.

4. Google maps
Google maps is one of the cool apps and most useful app especially for travelers. It replaced the old guide books and maps making it handy to find the routes of the places within a touch. With the voice that informs us the route we are traveling while driving makes it even cooler. But running this app for a long time drains your battery a lot.

5. Whatsapp
Whatsapp is a great app offering connectivity all around the world. All you want is internet and you can talk to people across the globe. It’s a lot of fun using it as we get a lot of forward messages, group chats, video calling, information sharing. Besides killing time it kills your battery. So, limited usage is encouraged in order to save battery’s energy. :)

6. Applock
Applock is a tool which provides lock for your apps. It is a security tool and we can customize which apps that we really want to lock for security purposes. It comes with a choice of having pattern or pin for your lock. A great app really but it too drains your battery a lot. Really a lot. :|

7. Clean master
Clean master is one of the widely used apps which provides the features of junk cleaner, antivirus, phone boost, battery saver, and space cleaner. Although it looks like you are boosting your phone at times, cleaning up junk files, killing apps that drains battery, this clean master here is one of your major energy eater. You should look out for this.

Although apps in general drain your battery these are some of the apps that kills your majority energy. Close the apps after usage. Uninstall unwanted apps and apps that are unused for a long time. It not only frees memory but also helps save energy. Always monitor the apps that use the high battery energy and look for its minimal usage. Thanks for reading.

I don't have most of those on my phone luckily. I do have SnapChat and Netflix but don't use them very much on my phone so that has not been an issue for me yet. Once I did fall asleep with Youtube open on my phone playing a video though and when I woke up I had the warning indicator for low battery.

Amazon Kindle requires a lot of battery too. It increases brightness on your phone. And makes it really hard to save the battery while using it.

You can change the brightness in the settings if you'd like. The screen will also dim if you're idle for too long. So it's not hard to save battery while using it.

Thanks for letting us know. I don't have those apps on my phone, that is why I am wondering. Also, someone said that when your WIFI is on and you are not using it, it keeps on finding a Wifi to connect, that is why it drain the battery of the phone.

Yes @grecy0905. Also mostly don't connect to free public WIFI's as they are not that much safe. If you connect to a trusted network in a known company then it is fine. Otherwise it os good to avoid such unknown networks.

Do avoid charging it often and also don't allow the battery to black out completely. Just be sure to close all the apps after using. :)

I can understand. Have a scheduled time for usage of mobile. Or else check your battery. There may be some problem for draining heavily. :)

I am glad I don't have these apps on my phone. My battery lasts for a day without these apps. But the cleaner stuff is a perfect mention here.

Yeah, thank you and I am happy that you are maintaining your phone in a good condition. Most of the people fail to do that.

Where in the Android kindle app are setting for brightness? I don't see those settings around the app version that I have.

I stay clear of apps for this very reason, the fact that they are a drain on your battery life. The only one I have on my phone is whatsapp, but I can honestly say it doesn't seem to weigh down my phone all that much. I don't even understand how people are able to read on their phone via the Kindle app. That must be a huge drain!
