My last two articles about quotes were fun. So I'm doing another one.
These are quotes from influential women who motivate and inspire me.

“If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.”~ Denise Hadnott, financial educator
I can so relate to this advice. I had to build a door. Almost a decade ago, I found myself unemployed. Temp jobs were available for a while. The thing with temp staffing is that you always hope it will become a permanent gig. In my case, that didn't happen. I combed through many online job databases, submitted job applications, along with my resume. I managed to get interviewed for jobs, only to receive a rejection letter saying they chose another candidate or that they decided not to fill the position for “budget reasons”. Whatever! After a while, I decided:
“Forget about it! I'll hire myself!” That's when I started trying to make money online. In Ms. Hadnott's word,
I built a door. One amazing that thing I discovered when I did this. There are a lot of people out there, all around the world,
building doors. Many of them are right here in this forum.

“The beginning is always today.”~ Mary Shelley, author (1797 – 1851)
Mary Shelley is the lady who wrote “Frankenstein”. I was doing research on banned books and found out that her book had been banned. The controversy was about a man trying to be God trying to make a man in his own image. I am guessing when she was writing that book she had no idea her work was going to end up on a banned books list. But when I give it a second thought, I imagine for a woman living during her time period, she probably felt like every day was a day where she had start all over again. Her quote inspires me because I think starting all over again or viewing today as a beginning is a good thing. You don't get so attached to certain things or put your trust in those things. You become very adaptable and can easily change or make a switch to suit your circmstances in life. Think about Mrs. Shelley. Even though the very first book she wrote was banned, it didn't stop her from writing more books. She wrote books, short stories, articles, etc., and she co-authored numerous works with her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley. On a sad note, she died of brain cancer.

“Take criticism seriously, but not personally. If there is truth or merit in the criticism, try to learn from it. Otherwise, let it roll right off you.”~ Hillary Clinton, lawyer and politician
This is very good advice for life. I agree with Mrs. Clinton 100%. So many times people take criticism personally. Well! In fact, most of the time the criticism is personal. If somebody is criticizing you ~ it's either about something you say or said or something you do or did. That's personal! Even if it's work-related. LOL. Yet, you need to stop and think. Is the person giving out the criticism just being nasty or insulting to you or trying to point out something to you that could use a little improvement? You need to be able to take a look at yourself objectively and weigh the criticism. Don't think of it as criticism. View it as good advice or bad advice. If it's good advice, then take heed. If it's bad advice, shake it off!
