Sleep is really important, getting enough sleep is really good for the brain to function well. Able to cope with daily activities with an excellent performance to it. Despite busy schedule we should take time to get enough sleep. :D

raaman wrote:We know that sleep is necessary for our health and our well-being. A recent study on the subject shows that it is also while we sleep that our brain releases toxins. For decades, scientific studies on the subject show that in mammals (both animals and humans), sleep is a very important factor for the well-being of the body and mind. Without sleep, the body will not be able to reason or even to move. This is not an innovation to say that a good sleep is essential. The scientific discoveries of the moment are at another level.

In fact, it is reported in a science magazine, that sleep plays a fundamental role with regard to metabolic homeostasis, a natural process in the body that helps maintain constant body fluids necessary for the proper functioning of the body. It is these fluids which allows, among other things eliminate the body of all the toxins that parasitize. During sleep, whether natural or the result of a drug anesthesia, the brain deflates and leaves room for sixty percent of interstitial space and more, compared to the times when the body is in action. This leaves more room for the interstitial fluid to clean up.

The interstitial fluid thus cleans up the active brain of all the toxins that obstruct and could be potentially damaging. In this case, the amyloid or amyloid beta is destroyed. These peptides are proving harmful to the nervous system because they are involved in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Faced with such discoveries, the term sleep repairman makes sense. How to program your body to sleep? Sleep well; it's also a question of habit. The less we sleep, the harder it is to do work in good conditions. Also, if the sleep is disrupted easily, it is difficult to put in order.

To achieve this, especially if you tend to sleep poorly, consider practical and ritualize your bedtime. For example, try to go to sleep every night at the same time. After a few weeks you will see that your body will not allow, and show you a little signs of fatigue before the sleeping hour.
Gradually limit the activities that will keep your brain alert. If you have to work late, make sure to keep you a little while to you before bedtime. While physically, if you are not at your job, your brain itself does not answer too quickly.

Ask yourself and do something different that makes you to think about something else like food, an office tour ahead or a manual activity. You can also watch an episode of your favorite series on television etc. Before turning off the light, repeat the gestures that reassure you and make you calm for the night. Apply your care creams, read a few pages of a book or novel you like. As a final point, sleep in a room that is free of noise and light, so that your brain is not disturbed and you can sleep in peace.

Yes.
I realized this too late.
All because when I was in my teens....I started to party all night....drink all night.
Now I know why my brain seems to stop functioning unlike before lol.

But maybe....the damage is not temporary I hope...lol :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

A warm milk and a vitamin (food supplement) in an hour before bedtime help you achieved good sleep. It is a recommendation from a Doctor on me since I am anemic. There are people having difficulties in sleeping or they have what we called "insomnia" and one of the reasons is you have Anemia. Care to share a tip from a Doctor to have good sleep.

I appreciate sleep so much. I'm a pre-med student so I don't get much of them. There are days that I only get 3 hours of sleep, especially during exam weeks. It's a constant battle between sleeping and studying. Caffeine helped a lot and my brain was still able to process what I read. There are times that I try to force myself to take a nap, but my body refuses. It's just weird how I still feels energized even with a lack of sleep. The most I'd get is 6 hours, tbh.

Do you have a particular vitamin in mind, which is good for sleep?

angelrosei wrote:Caffeine helped a lot and my brain was still able to process what I read

Are you sure it didn't do more harm than good? Caffeine can give you a burst of energy during the day, to help with your study. But, it can also keep you awake at night, meaning you are more tired next day and hence needing more caffeine to stay alert during the day. It can be a viscous circle. Obviously I don't know if that is happening to you, but it may be worth considering.

Apple by your bed side can help you sleep for its light aroma calm your senses and nervous system. A glass of milk will help you sleep too. But among the best option to sleep well, is to relax and ease your mind. Empty and remove stressful thoughts and events happened. Stop worrying for tomorrows part let it be done accordingly. According to studies, people who can't sleep well has a lot of burdens to think and carry, remove all those. Keep everything one step at a time. If it meant to be, it really will no matter what. :)

I try to have minimum 5-7 hours sleep. I am a night owl. I go to bed late at night around 3 am. But since I do freelance work I don't have to wake up in the morning to go to work. So I get to sleep till late in the morning. I prefer to work at night since I have more energy at night than during the day. Maybe some people have different opinions about this. But I think we should do what works best for us.

malot12 that's a new one on me. Do you cut the apple or just leave it whole? Is it something you tried yourself with good results?

Whole apple, a lot of apples to be exact. More or less 10 apples. I tried it when i can't able to sleep well, it really does a magic, then after a great sleep, you can eat the apples too. I just stop doing it for apples nowadays as expensive but no question to its health benefits though.

Haven't particular except prescribed given me by a doctor. :)

One should remember, lack of sleep can decrease hemoglobin. Hemoglobin helps/gives oxygen to circulate the flow of a red a blood cells to the different parts of the body including brain. Having low hemoglobin can trigger difficulties to sleep.

Indeed. Sleep is very essential for the brain too because you can work better if you have enough sleep. As you notice when you are lack of sleep your brain can't function well and you can't work better. But if you sleep well, you can do anything and have a strong mind and body to do whatever tasks you should do.
