Ask Jordan :)

Postby Jordan » 21 Jan 2025, 07:27

Hey everyone!

Figured I'd create an AMA!

A lot of you somewhat already know me, others not so much. Feel free to ask me anything you want to know!

A brief bit about me:
I’ve been on and off ForumCoin since 2013 and have had the pleasure of interacting with a lot of great people here over the years. During that time, I’ve worked on numerous projects, many of which are community-focused and shared on platforms like this. My business ventures, however, tend to stay behind the scenes.

One of my longest-running projects is my web hosting company, which I’ve owned since 2012. That thread dates back to 2013, though the business has undergone a rebrand since then. These days, I no longer accept new clients under this company as the servers have been full for some time. The last few years I've been too busy to add more servers. I also don't want to become overburden as it pretty much runs itself these days.

Beyond that, I own over 30 fully functioning websites, around a dozen half-finished projects, and over 200 domains. Investing in domains has been one of my most consistent side earners over the years, though I’ve made my share of mistakes. (I once accidentally let a $1,300 domain expire   )

By day, I work as a Corporate Operations Trainer, which is just a fancy way of saying I train people. :P

A lot of my work these days, have been focusing on giving back to the communities. Over two decades of developing websites have left me with a wealth of resources, and I often purchase the rights to tools and software to release them for free. This comes in the forms of custom-built website themes, templates, images, to fully built software. While I’ve only shared a few so far, I’m working on releasing more.

I’m also passionate about helping others start their own websites. One of my current projects is freedoma.in (still in development :problem: :shh:), which will provide free domains to help people get started. This is something that's been on the back burner for a while, but It's something I'm still interested in doing.

I use to also be a pretty big gamer. I've owned a few gaming related websites in the past, and I still own a gaming related one that is custom built in Python. But it's kind of dormant. I don't game as much as I use to because there just doesn't seem to be enough time in a day. But I've been trying to do a bit more lately to keep myself from going crazy with all the work I do.

To end the brief summary, here's a fun fact:
I use to be on a competitive swim team :)

Thanks for starting an AMA Jordan, you have a very interesting background.

What type of corporate training do you do?

How do you go about selling your domain names?

:P I don't think I will be doing any dedicated PTP forum anytime soon. I may have some small things though.

eldavis wrote:What project are you currently working on?

A lot of side projects on the go. I'll give more details soon when theres some to release :)

Fergal wrote:What type of corporate training do you do?

It's for a pizza franchising company. I train their corporate managers and franchise partners.

Fergal wrote:How do you go about selling your domain names?

Depends. Some of them I list on "premium" marketplaces like BrandBucket, sometimes I message people on namepros, etc. Name pros has been my biggest resource honestly.

I also own the rights to a domain marketplace software that I also sold to other domainers. Unfortunately, I let my domain expire for that product ha ha ha. (One of my many mistakes LOL) It was called DNDork. (Can see in footer of archive page was from me). I now have the site up at domical.net, but I have not done anything with it, or advertised it, and don't take payments for it now. Currently purchasing doesn't work, as I turned it off. The script needs updating and I haven't had the chance to update it for release to public again. Hopefully I can get it updated soon and rereleased so I can sell the script again. But for now, it works for my own personal needs.

I think its been about 8 years since I stopped cutting it short. I still cut my hair from time to time, but it's more of a trim. I'll be honest, my hair grew initially from lack of time to even go to a hairdresser LOL. Over time, I got use to the look, and then just decided to let it grow.
