Forumcoin has a lot, but is lacking one major feature that just about every other site has...

Notifications.

As of right now, you only get notifications on the site when someone gives you rep, or sends you a PM.

There really should be a system in place where you can get a site notifications when someone replys to your thread, replys to your post, mentions your username, and quotes you. It's a very stressful thing to reply to someone with no way of knowing if they will ever even read the reply that you made, and if they do find it, it is stressful to wonder if you will ever notice their reply.

As of right now the only way to let someone know that you replied to their post is by giving them a bit of rep from the comment. That will let them know, and when they click 'see rep' it will take them to the page where they gave you a thumbs up, and you will probably see the reply.

I just think that it would be a good idea to have site notifications.

They will come as default in phpBB 3.1 which we will move to at some point although can't say when unfortunately... Sorry

I personally like how ForumCoin doesn't have notifications for when there are replies to your posts, topics, etc and how there are only notifications for when you receive a PM or a reputation. For me, all the notifications you would get from replies to your posts on other forums got very, very annoying, especially when you start a big topic, and you come on one day and you have 50, 60 notifications you have to go through, wasting your time that you could spend on posting and replying too.

But I do indeed see where your coming from, and I do dislike it when others don't reply to me when I am expecting them too. That's why I try my best to always reply.

I think you can limit the notifications on most forums so you only get notifications when you are @ mentioned or quoted directly for example. You don't have to get notifications every time a topic you posted in get replies.

To be honest I don't really use notifications on forums that have them. I am just used to not using them. I am a bit old fashioned when it comes to forums anyway. I am not a fan of the modern software like Xenforo filled with little features that really serve no purpose and jquery used everywhere just because it is modern. Alot of people though like these sort of things.

Yeah, I know that on some forums it is possible to disable certain notifications and that kind of thing, but I have been on others where I don't have the option to disable them. (Which really sucks.) But I agree with you, I don't really ever use notifications on forums unless it's letting me know about a PM I received.

Friend, be careful in the section and not put the caps lock. You have to activate option when you create a topic or comment. The option is "Notify me when a reply is posted" . Appears below the message box.
