Quality content is out the door! You have to do better!

Postby OldGuy » 02 Dec 2022, 19:04

There have been 117 members who have posted content in the latest 30 days. 86 of them have reputation scores below the site average. That means 73.5% of all currently active members are posting little more than junk content based on the collective opinions of the active community via reputation points. The average reputation score for the entire history of the site is sliding lower every single day due to recently posted content.

Many members have falling reputation scores due to the high volume of entries in the recent contest in the race to top 1 million posts for the site.

However, keep in mind that quantity does not equal quality.
1 million junk posts is bad for the site.

When searching the question "how do proper English spelling, grammar, punctuation content affect search engine placement?"

A great summary of the answers was found at
https://readable.com/blog/do-spelling-a ... ffect-seo/

Quoted from that page:
“When it comes to content, user experience centers on comprehension and readability, the latter of which is where I’d argue spelling and grammar fall. Layout of content aside, if your site visitors can’t read your content with ease—which includes not getting hung up on typos and grammatical errors—then it’s not high-quality content.”

Search engines pay attention to quality content. It is part of the criteria used in result placements. Page position with higher quality content directly affects potential advertising revenue. Ad revenue directly affects how much members can earn. Games aside, you simply have to do better when posting content anywhere else on the site!

Make sure you read the initial post in any topic where you wish to participate. It is wise to at least review any existing posts to help you fully follow the conversation. Always do your very best to provide new and unique educational content about the topic. Don't post anything that does not add value to the topic and conversation and never wander off topic. Preview your content before posting to make sure it is accurate. Strive to contribute content that is deserving of a positive reputation point.

On the other hand, if you see content that you feel adds value to the topic, be sure to give it the reputation point when deserved. If you see content that is just plain junk, either give it a negative reputation point when deserved or at the least click that report button so the administration can take a close look. Do your part. Make it part of your site participation.

We all need to work together to provide high quality content as the norm on ForumCoin.

Newbies should undergo approval before their post will be posted until their reputation reach 50, It is the only thing I can think of. Apparently a banned member cameback with a new username and most like he brought referrals along with him.

-------
I think we have an alternick problem like 10 of them.

 newbies making new threads that doesn't make sense...... :?

The general off topic needs more current events topic rather than Surveys that people keep spawning. Surveys are not that .

People are in more rush to make more comments and add more pennies than to post quality contents. I guess a verification process for newbies would be a good idea.

There actually is a vetting process for new members that clears out the worst of the rubbish that flows through our doors. A dozen of the newbies who have joined just in the last month have already been banned and cleared out. There have been a few older members who hardly began posting when they first joined who have appeared again recently with posts that violated site rules and guidelines who have also been removed. To date, 840 members over the life of ForumCoin have been removed by a ban. Those were not just by chance.

It does not end after a member settles in. Anyone who violates site rules and guidelines can be banned at any time, no matter how many posts or rep points they may have earned in the past. All content is eventually reviewed and evaluated.

First consideration is that no one actually earns revenue until they can cash in. Whatever is in your account is just a credit until you actually reach a level you can cash in. If you end up getting banned before you reach that level you don't get a penny of it. Even after you have enough in your account to cash in, if you are banned, you lose it all. It is just a journal entry that makes no difference to the site. There is at least one member from the past who never bothered to cash in but ended up being banned with thousands of FCs in his account. He lost all of that.

Fergal and CyberFreak have their eyes on the site everyday. Your favorite moderator watches the site for hours everyday as a volunteer. Every member has the eyes who views every post as they review topics and can report a violation with a click of the "!" button to let the administration take a close look.

We all can do our part to clean out the rubbish as we work on the site. If you want to help clean up the Site, do your part. Report bad content and site violations as you see them. You are part of the vetting process.

Very relevant points. My activity levels might be lower than many others here.
Yet, I try to maintain a minimum level even though some of my posts even go unanswered.
I think the Admins can sometimes randomly send PM to some who are putting up content below certain level.
Or may be, 10 posts per day limit be reduced for some time?

A mantra I'll be talking about in a post I've got in mind: "Be the Change You Long to See in the World" (I think it was a Dalai Lama who said it, but I heard it from televangelist Joy Meyer).

Applying that here, you might phrase it 'Post the content you long for your readers to pattern-after.' About 'the people who continue to post "garbage" no matter HOW much quality literature you post,' The Parable of the Tares (Weeds) comes to mind. The farmer's enemies planted weeds among his crops, but the farmer knows that--if he uproots the weeds--he'll probably kill a good portion of his intended crops.

Maybe nowadays we've got weed-killer that doesn't mess with the crops, but back-then the best that you could do was to "let the crops & weeds grow together, and burn the weeds after the harvest."

Our enemy is greed, and it's sowing its hunger in the hearts of every one of us! The best you can do is to gather & sow as much good seed as you can muster

Interesting Tale with a good takeaway. People rarely share such things here so I enjoyed it.
I would try to see if I can implement what you have suggested in some ways.

@OldGuy. I totally agree with you that we all are a part of vetting process as this forum works as a community. I am actually surprised to know the number of users that have been banned so far here. It must have hurt the person with thousands FCs in his account getting banned before he could cash out. But then it was needed.

The common takeaway there is 'you've got to keep The Enemy's "wild oats"- (tare-, weed-) sowers out of your farm.' (I keep my 'wild oats' to myself until I get to the appropriate 'wild oats'-sowing location  but I digress).

With the 'Dalai Lama'-mantra, MY takeaway is "spend so much time adding- & commenting on-'quality content' that there's NO ROOM for junk-content!

Yes you rightly said. If we focus on quality content commenting and posting, then we would anyways be away from junk.
Still, some non serious folks could probably be mentored.
As for the rest, they do need to be shown the rulebook.

Recently there is a trend of low quality post making alternicks and Plagiarizers who uses A.I to paraphrase what they copy paste.

Do the advertisers pay less for ads on the posts done by "alternicks and Plagiarizers"?

I think advertisers have nothing against Alternicks but an Alternick is considered cheating in a PTP platform. Advertisers though are against plagiarism.
