Friend or Foe?

Postby bestwriter » 23 Sep 2021, 07:59

If you click on anyone's profile here you will notice there will be two options for you to choose - Friend or Foe. I am not sure what it will mean if we click either of those.

I am about to click 'Foe' against one user

I did that once but I found I kept wanting to see what the person I had added as a foe was writing just to annoy myself a little bit more

"Friend" are people you like and by adding them as a friend, you are able to PM them quicker and find their profile in your friends list in the UCP

"Foe" are people you don't like. Adding someone as a Foe will hide their posts

With both options you can set up custom PM rules so you have friends or foes PM's put into specific folders or you can set up a rule so all PM's from foes for example are automatically deleted. Ultimately most people don't seem to use the feature however it offers a bit of flexibility for users.

I've just come to terms with the fact I won't like what they write now and skip over their posts. Most of it is just repetitious twaddle and the rest is just to get a reaction. (it's not you by the way  )

I do the same but as you say if they are considered as foes we will not know what they are up to

I did not know there was such a feature here, why would i foe someone, just thinking to myself, i don't know anyone personally to do that, i would choose friend for what it's worth, I think foe is a little too heavy for me.

Looks like the 'Foe' feature is sort of blocking someone, so that we don't get to see their posts. As for me, I haven't found anybody that I would like to keep as foe here. Till now, Forumcoin has been great for me!

Very good. Thank you for bringing it to the notice of all the user members here. Now, I will use it for that useless fellow who pokes his nose unnecessarily and gives out unsolicited advice. :D

When a post is reported it is brought to the attention of the forum staff members and we look at it and make a decision as to what to do about that post. It doesn't do anything other than flag it for our attention.

Why should we? Once we have recognized/identified their behavior, what is the need to deal with them further? Yesterday, I 'foed' that fellow who used to give out uncalled for and unsolicited advice. Now, his posts are not showing up for me, and I am happy about it.

If you report someone it has to be agreed with admin. Just because we might find someone annoying it doesn't mean that admin will necessarily agree. Before a person gets a warning Admin will have to look into it and decide whether the report is justified.

What we report is there for Admin to see. It will be disheartening if Admin does not think much of it and just ignores it.

We never ignore a post that is reported. Sometimes we remove the post, sometimes we edit the post to remove offending content, sometimes we contact the member and ask them to be more careful in future posts and sometimes we feel that the post does not break our guidelines and can remain on the forum.
