We have seen this happening and once a user is angry on other user they will go straight to the person and give the person negative reputation which charge one fc from our account without our fault and in case we get positive reputation we don't earn any fc.

I feel charging fc for negative reputation should be stopped or only admin or moderator should be allowed to rate negatively.

Actually I want regular members to be using their negging privileges because a moderator like me does it alone, they will think I am biased against them. I actually negged people I like here because they did violations like being repetitive and making low quality post. I also dont mind people negging me because they disagree with my opinion. New Members who does violations need to get tough love so they can be saved from being banned.

Everytime there is a report, I have to neg a person and I do that alone. The only regular member who uses his Neg privilege right is Joliet Jake and I wont be shocked if he becomes a moderator someday.

If you think a person is doing a violation, just neg a person, If you disagree on a political issue, just agree to disagree because negs out of spite wont get a person banned. The Negger will look like the smaller person.

I don't think it's a bad idea not to charge a fee for a neg reputation point. It's embarrassing enough to get one without being charged for it and I know from experience that people will retaliate. I think people will accept a neg point from an admin or moderator more easily than they will a normal member.

We can use the report button which may seem a bit underhand but it sure as hell saves a lot of bad feeling amongst forum members. Just my take.

Sometimes someone may give a response according to what they know or how they have understood the question. we all do not have the same mind, the way i answer a question may be different from yours but again there are some answers that will not make sense at all and i may find it irrelevant but to someone else it could make sense so it all varies depends of how it's interpreted.

I guess that must be tough and it's one of the reasons I've never wanted to moderate although I have had the opportunity a few times on different forums. I suppose you have to weigh up the positives against the negatives and decide whether it's what you really want.

If you post unasked for advice/reply with words like "begging" anyone will get angry. Understand that first. You are not a 'know all, end all' person.

Yeah, that maybe is why reports are private

It would be interesting to see peoples opinion overall in regards to negative reputation as it is an issue that comes up often over the history of this site but really seems to have a wide range of varying opinions.

Ultimately negative reputation should be handed out only for bad posts and posts against our rules. It should not be used as a way to punish other users for disagreements or revenge. If you feel a reputation point was given in revenge, report it to us and we can remove it, restore your FC and take action against the user. Misuse of the reputation system is unacceptable and users should feel confident (If they want too) issuing negative reputation for posts that are against our community rules. It does help mould the community into a better one by encouraging users to make better posts. Good posts tend to attract good replies. Bad posts tend to encourage more bad replies. Encouraging good posts is good for everyone.

Again, any opinions on making -rep anonymous to end users, making it soley for staff to use or altering the "penalty" for negative reputation points is appreciated aswell as any other ideas so we can see if there is a typical consensus of the community so we see if we can make changes.

And that is exactly why people don't do it, because of the retaliation. You can only neg people if they are violating rules not because they have reported you for doing something they think is wrong. Not only that, it is down to admin on whether they agree with the report. If they don't nothing will be done and if they do you will get a warning or a ban. That's perfectly fair.

It's inevitable if you trigger someone who opposes your conjecture. Instead of respecting your opinion, they rather hit the thumbs down button, because their belief doesn't align with yours. Just ignore if you are given with negative reputation.
