Article Guidelines Reminder

Postby Fergal » 04 Feb 2021, 08:54

Thanks everyone for the great quality articles you have contributed to ForumCoin. I apologize for the fact that I have not been paying enough attention to that section. This has resulted in our articles forum containing topics of a type that we had not originally intended to be included. E.g. some articles in that section, do not meet the following guidelines:

Your article should include a "takeaway" that the reader can use to change behaviour and improve
This section is NOT for time sensitive content such as news stories, reviews, short opinion or factual pieces

Please have a read of our Article Guidelines as a reminder of they type of content we would like you to add.

Thanks again for your participating and understanding.

I try to follow the guidelines even though personally I would have preferred a section on Book review or Movies.

I have written several articles and I remember when I posted my first article that did not meet with the standards. Later in years I got one more removed and placed in the general category I  think I have arrived.

When I was a newbie, I posted a news and it got demoted from an article. I learned my lesson ever since.

The change happened on 1 Jul and the new rate is 25 ForumCoin per article post. I just tested it and was awarded 25 ForumCoin.

I try to stick to the guidelines. I have only posted one article so far and would be posting some more soon. I try to stick to the formatting too.
It would be better to include few more topics in Article section like current affairs, book reviews, sports, and entertainment. This is just a suggestion as these topics get a lot of readers.

I have not quite followed what is meant by 'take away' articles. What I write. for me is always a take away topic. I will write and depend on you to decide what is take away and what is not . No difference of opinion here.

My article is still under the Article section and the guidelines there say that we will earn 50 FC and then a 100 when we get 20 comments and 300 views. Is this still on because I have not seen any change in rules yet.

I think you can make sports and entertainment possible acceptable articles if you explore the technological and business aspect of it and you try to add some life lesson to it as well.

If you want to try entertainment writing, Instead of forumcoin, You can try to contact the twitter account of popgeeks and ask if they are looking for a new writer. You need to learn how to use grammarly to pass their standards

You can still earn as much from posting articles, however, it is paid differently. Previously you could earn 150 ForumCoin for an article. Now when you post an article you earn 25 ForumCoin and if your article is deemed helpful you earn a further 125 ForumCoin, bringing the total to 150 ForumCoin.

Here comes the problem. How will you decide an article is helpful? What yardstick will you use for it? As it is, what is good for one person is "not good" for other person. Everyone's likes and dislikes differ. After all, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. What is beautiful for you, may not be so for any other person. It all lies in our attitude, that is the way we look at things. Once, the famous Tamil lyricist Late Kavignar Kannadasan has wisely said that there is nothing like 'justice' ('nyayam' in Tamil), each person's attitude (manobhavam in Tamil) has only been expressed/given out as justice.

That's true raaman, an article that is valued here on ForumCoin may not be valued on another site and vice versa. I prefer to use some judgement rather than just hard numbers, when deciding which articles to give the extra reward to. That way, say an article that discusses the weather or a celebrity and gets lots of replies, will not necessarily get the reward, because it is not providing info that is relevant to what ForumCoin is about.
