Do you read the articles on ForumCoin?

Postby OldGuy » 20 Aug 2019, 06:02

I was just now reviewing the content in the unanswered posts list. I noted that articles make up 45% of all unanswered posts back to when they were first introduced. That is 268 out of the latest 600 unanswered posts, or 13.7% out of the total 1952 posted articles on this site.

That means Fergal paid out (50 FC x 268) 13,400 FC for articles that have never received a single answer.

Only 51 out of the entire list ever went on to receive the required replies and views to earn the added 100 FC. The rest never produced enough response to make them worthy of display.

1952 - 268 no response - 51 that received attention = another 1633 articles that were written, the authors received (50 FC x 1633) = 81,650 FC for what appears to be worthless content (based on the lack of response or attention).

Maybe something needs to be changed.

Do you even look at the articles that have been posted? Do you read them?

Well there is an improvement with activity now. I think I will PM the reason why we have many unanswered articles. I had some articles that never got responses because they got buried by Chameli who was then cheating the system with her multiple accounts. People have tendency to not read anything on the bottom of the page 1.

I do post articles and check others' articles too from time to time. However, I think other folks simply skip articles as it would need some time to go through them. It is a general tendency (and not only on FC)of most people to skip things which are not short.
So sometimes well formed and well written articles get neglected.
I think we can alter the credits for articles in such a way that we have Fixed credits (may be 25 to 30) plus extra credits for ratings.
But with a caveat that the user giving a rating (1 to 5 ) needs to explain why he or she has given a certain rating.
And no trivial comments to justify the ratings.

People who don't go to the article area, focuses too much on those very casual survey topics and the earn money online area. There is improvement on the article area though. We are getting more responses now.

I am a new member on this forum. Yes, I have seen the Article section on this forum, and I do plan to write articles for this forum in the future. I think "unanswered" does not necessarily mean that people do not read the article. Many people read articles, but that does not necessarily mean that they will comment on them, too. I don't know, as I am new on this forum. However, I do plan to write and read other's articles. I would be sad if you close the article section.

Article writers needs to expand their range of topics because if we get too repetitive it will make people not want to give your articles a chance.

We can expand the number of categories in Articles and Tutorials and have lesser points for categories like Movies, sports etc which might be of interest to more folks.

The real value of the article section is from the revenue it gets from adsense (if Fergal choose to apply Adsense Native ads instead of using ads in the bottom). There is a lot of content which can attract search engine users who click on ads as opposed to members. It doesn't matter if the forum members comment or not but if forum wishes to earn revenue then adsense native ads above the fold and search engine traffic is the answer.

I would like to become an article writer on this forum, as I am already a writer. However, I am not sure from where I should start. I wish to contribute useful articles, and I already have a sample with me. I checked the article section and read the guidelines, but I am not sure whether I can apply now or not. I can see the application form, but I need your guidance. Should I copy/paste the questions mentioned in the form and answer them in order to apply? Should I send an e-mail in order to apply or just PM Cyberfreak with the form questions and answer and the article sample? I am anticipating your response. Thanks a lot.

Rather than have me interpret the rules from the higher up authority, follow the rules as posted:
Become an Article Writer

He says to send your application to him via pm. I already know one of the issues is that they need to see some examples of your existing content. If you have posted articles on some other site, be sure to include the URL to the pages that include your content so he can look at it. He is not a mind reader. He actually needs to see samples.

Follow his instructions carefully.
Failure to follow instructions is one of the biggest reasons applicants get turned down.

Good Luck

The only time I read articles here (or at least scan them) is if they show up in the New Posts page. From the few I have read, I would say it's obvious they were written to get paid and not to inform or even entertain.

I have been a member here since 10 Oct 2015 and hardly stop by anymore because the post quality is so low and it's the same members flooding the stream with worthless comments every day.

They already banned Chameli and her multiple accounts who abused the article section. There had been a huge difference since then.

I am rarely on Forumcoin unfortunately, but whenever I am here, I almost certainly read at least one or two articles. However, I feel that the quality of the articles is so variable from article to article...

This is not 100% true. I have read some articles and some of them are pretty informative. They do provide good tips and information that is not known to many people. I am planning to write articles on this website. However, since I do write articles, my articles will be quite different and more informative, as I would try to add some more valuable information to articles. The problem is that writers are not getting paid $5 or more per article, so they settle for less and write content that they think is suitable for the price they are getting paid. One cannot expect a high quality content for low price. Despite prices being low per article, I will still try to to write good articles and entertain my readers with informative content in the future when I will become a writer on this forum.

I hope you are right and I will be watching. Feel free when you post a good one to message me so I won't miss it. I would love to see Forum Coin return to the value it had when I joined it.

I support my fellow article writers. I view the articles. But some of the topics I just can not comment because I don't know about it. I do give the writer a Reputation Point for taking the time to write the article.

As to the question of Mr. Fergal paying 50 forum coins for articles that never get Replies or Views, I don't think it's a waste. I know many articles end up as Unanswered Posts but that doesn't mean the article is garbage. It could mean that a lot of members here never click on the Unanswered Posts.
