Do you notice when people have not posted for a while?

Postby sprite1950 » 18 Dec 2016, 10:41

I actually do, especially when they have been very active and suddenly I do not see their posts. Sometimes it surprises me and sometimes not. Do you notice if people disappear?

I notice such members, maybe they are not interested in topics discussed or they have found something else which is keeping them busy. In some cases people are busy in their offline jobs so unable to come online.

Yes. I often do that. For instance, one of our members here (@swalia) could not be seen. She used to share good information. :o

I haven't seen Angie10 for around 10 days which is unusual because she was a daily poster. I hope everything is ok with her. Does anyone know?

She's fine, just busy with Christmas. I think she is away seeing family. We are on FB, so I get her updates.

I do notice this as well. I have noticed that @kaka135 hasn't been on here for a while but I am sure she is busy with her family. There have been others that I haven't seen for quite a while who were relatively frequent posters. Maybe after the new year is here they will be back in full swing here.

I do notice some of the regulars. And this can be depending on how much active I am myself.

I notice it sometimes too. I have not been posting lately because of my offline job and am starting to post more now. I missed it here, this is a favorite forum and great place to visit.

I am not really here enough to notice when people post and when they don't. I like to post online, but I am trying to concentrate more of my efforts on making money offline. I post quite a bit on MyLot, and there is a gang of regulars on there.

Over time, I've come to view certain colleagues as regular posters here. If I go through an entire page on a forum without coming across these colleagues' posts, I am abound to wonder where they've gone to.

I do notice when active users stop visiting and I do sometimes contact the user to find out if there is a problem with ForumCoin or if they are not happy with something here and gather some useful feedback if the user has left us because they are not liking FC for some reason. I can remember when @sprite1950 was inactive for a while, I contacted her to check everything was OK. Thankfully she was just busy with real life things and is now active again

So sorry I went off without a word! I was seriously snowed under with all sorts (including fine tuning and launching my blog), and never got chance to say good bye properly before I went on my Christmas break.

Thanks so much for assuring sprite1950 @ Lexi :)

Incidentally, does anyone know if DreekLass is still a member here?! I feel like I've not seen her for months.

Yes, and I am one of the worst as I take off on a tangent or don't even get on the computer.

A lot of you know about my struggle with depression and PTSD and how I may be gone for awhile.

It seems that I am doing much better this year since the medications have started working.

Forumcoin participants have always been kind and welcomed me back after I have been gone for a few days.

Thank you everyone,

Oldfriend

I'm on another writing site that I pay attention to such things as that
so when I see they haven't been active, I send them a pm to see if I can
get them to tell me what's going on if there's something I can do to help
cause we're all family, so we all look out for each other & keep in touch.

DreekLass is another member who has been missing for a long time but she has recently come back. It's good to see members return after a break. Sometimes a short break is all that is needed to become motivated again.

Re: Do you notice when people have not posted for a while?

I started researching ForumCoin just to fully understand what the Reputation Points meant to the members and to the site. The research has expanded to many other details, and one big thing that came to light are the number of older members who post for awhile then vanish. Their posts just stop. On the other hand, I have also many noted older members who vanished for months or even years suddenly start in again.

Over time, I've come to know and look for a lot of familiar user names during my searches and find they are just no longer active. I've noted over 100 familiar names of older users who have not posted anything in the last 30 days even though they were active after January 1. An average of 30 more stopped posting in each 30 day span before that. I have also noticed a lot of them have logged in to view content, but have not posted anything during their multiple visits. Several have come back to visit multiple times even though their last posted content was in 2016 or earlier.

As older members move on to other interests, newer members join the crowd and blend right in to fill the empty spaces. Even though there are now over 4447 registered members, I have not seen more than 150 active members in any recent 30 day span.

If you are not watching the list of "who was here" on the home page, it is impossible to notice every previously active member who is no longer active or any of the new members who join the fray everyday. They just sorta blend in as another familiar name. It is a constantly changing community.

I think it's the name of the game. People come here, stay a while and then move on to other sites. Some join and then decide it's not for them and others, like myself, grow very attached to a site and stay for many years. I'm not as active as I once was here but I visit very day.

If a very active member suddenly stops posting, it might take a while but someone will surely notice they are quiet.
