Examples of Low quality posts replies

Postby Netherrealmer » 05 Jun 2020, 17:44

I censored the name of the banned members but I decided to share this so you less people will do these bad habits. I think less people will get banned if they will avoid posting like this.

The thread is Can Rest of the world Boycott China, A very political thread that sparks emotions and debate and this person decided to make this reply instead.

Image

Do you think this person bothered reading the thread?

This one is a reply on a Technology thread about a Robot Litter box.
Image
This reply have nothing to contribute to the thread

Also you should read the previous comments too to make sure you are adding something new instead of a generic reply of something that already said before which leads to running around the bushes.

A person from 2015 made a discussion asking for help because he can't use the app store because of the then latest update in 2015. Suddenly someone decided to reply this ancient thread about a super dated old news irrelevant in current times update of App store.

Image

I had seen people with tendency to reply on super old threads, Nothing wrong about replying on old threads if that old thread is timeless. This is a dated old thread not applicable in real life. I had seen one member replying on a thread about a website that is already closed. Those threads didnt age well and they are obsolete. Do not bump them.

Indeed, relevance of the response to the topic is very essential. This tendency of "Nice", "Nicely written" is there in case of YouTube videos and elsewhere as well.
Yet we do keep on seeing such cases from time to time.

Also as much as possible its better to reply on threads of topic creators still active in forumcoin instead of banned members and members who havent posted for a thousand years.

I am sorry fergus but sometimes my replies suck.
They are short and to the point. Will I get banned if I don't
make long ones? I am trying to be good.

replies dont have to be long, It has to make sense and contribute new information. You havent done violations those people did. Also those people replies on 20 posts a day with the same non sense.

The thing is new topics had started to becoming useless because old topic repliers burries them because they make 10 posts in a row. Thats why they need to spread out to different areas of forumcoin

Oh yeah they don't bother to read. I this a lot. They copy and paste
something like oh yes thank you for sharing over and over. And it does
not even give a reply to the thread. I think its better to actually read what is going on.

People to encourage more members to make new threads please prioritize threads created in 2020. Do not bury them in favor of super old threads and threads created by banned members.

New threads are getting buried in favor of threads from 2014.

I'm glad you said that, @fergus1234 - I still can't get over the snitch among us who was going around reporting us for supposedly posting brief, low-quality comments. I have to say that was a particularly nasty episode, the worst I've ever experienced on FC. It's never nice to have a snake in the grass among you who doesn't even have the conviction to stand up and be counted, to stand by their accusations, some of which were quite frankly, baseless because while most of us love this community and take the time to contribute good quality posts, we can't always write 'essays' - sometimes one-liners suffice. So thanks for appreciating that and stick with it!

@Fergus1234, this is very informative post clearly explaining with examples what a low quality post means. What I would like to ask you is - do you give warnings to members who post such low quality posts or are they banned abruptly without any explanations?

Oh! that's very unfortunate. But wasn't he (or she) aware that you are the community moderator, and you are within your rights to penalise someone who is not adhering to T&C of the forum. But I would have preferred to send a PM, clearly explaining to that person that you are the moderator and such low quality posts are unacceptable, in a very polite language. Next action would be to deduct a point, and finally the ban.

As far as I am concerned, when I see a low quality, meaningless and vague post, and also posts with lots of grammatical errors - I just plainly ignore them, as it is not my duty to either correct their mistakes or bring those mistakes to their notice. I simply leave it to the moderators or the admins to deal with it.

It is good that you have given some examples for people to realize and improve the quality of their postings. I hope they would have read it.
I have never given any negative reputation point to anyone. Never felt it right to hurt someone or at times call for an unnecessary rival here. But if the moderator and admin point it to them through negative reputation, it might make them rectify their ways.

I remember that. Someone was going through everyone's posts and reporting at least one they thought was below standard. I think they had some kind of gripe with the site. I got reported for a short post too; it was when OldGuy was a moderator. I don't claim to be perfect and I suppose it shows that we are all capable of writing sub standard posts sometimes.

They could try to come up a topic or share their experience that has insights but still relevant to the main topic if they couldn't compose a helpful post.

Threads on the BMW section with survey like questions as titles is magnet to repetitive low quality post. The threads about popular PTP are also getting repetitive posts from people who don't even post there but thankfully Joliet Jake call them out.

I think people will post anything just to make their 10 posts instead of posting comments that add value to a thread. Sometimes I only post two or three comments in a day because anything else would just be a load of blurb which has already been said to make that extra penny.
