Meet the unanswered threads

Postby Netherrealmer » 12 Oct 2018, 13:18

This is the link to the unanswered threads.

search.php?search_id=unanswered

These threads actually don't suck, they just didn't get attention because old thread bumpers decided to bump 2 dozens prehistoric ancient threads burying these fresh threads. You know what this area would have been empty if people will bother giving attention to them instead of a discussion about Chatabout or Bubblews.

I had been wanting to suggest this for a long long time but I think it is very timely because a discussion made in 2018 deserves more love over an obsolete topic and topics that reached their peak.

Possibly this topic of your's must have had the same fate like many other topics, if I had responded here!

In fact there are many areas which requires some amendments, like the old threads if they are no more interesting or not getting any responses for some stipulated time should be auto locked, so that such confusion should not prevail on this site!

Thanks!

Yes i agree with you Rao, there are many questions that have been marked as old but are still in the list. Like you have said once a certain time has elapsed, they should be removed to avoid the constant reputation of answers.

discussions that are created in 2015 or older that has no more relevance to the present should not be bumped. Someone here just bumped threads about websites that dont exist anymore.

On myLot, there's a 'unanswered thread'-option on the drop-down menu for discussion lists (along with a list of 'Top Rated'- and a list of 'Hot' discussions, and a few other lists).
October 30
Yeah, I look at that; and I notice that most of them are 'Articles & Tutorials' ... I think I'm more-interested in 'unanswered Forums'

We also have that option here but sadly few people uses them because they rather bump threads created when Baby Jesus was born.

I have just opened your link and It seems to me that 80% of those unanswered threads are from articles and tutorials section, I don't find It weird the existence of threads that nobody answered, some were just unseen due to the other topics that people usually reply more.

I usually check them when I log on. I remember once going through many pages but I only saw two that I could comment on. I read them but didn't have much to say on most of them. I still check everyday though. Thanks for bringing up

Nope the real reason they didnt get attention are the mass old thread bumpers. Once they got on the bottom, people will not notice them anymore.

All the suggestions given here make sense. We have limited number of posts and the limit gets over answering the ones that come on first page. We tend to just ignore those on other pages.

And I think this show why I prefer to read forums rather than articles---besides 'the required length,' an article also feels more like "a reference resource" (encyclopedia, dictionary, article) than 'a discussion-starter that needs a comment in reply' 8-)

People are still posting about Chatabout? Man, that site's been gone for a LONG while.

@fergus1234 - I visit the Unanswered Posts. @sprite1950 mentioned them in one of her threads. That's how I took note of them. viewtopic.php?f=6&p=268657 But I only visit after I have done other posts and I'm looking for perhaps another interesting thread.

@spiderdust - When you come across a thread that should be CLOSED, take a minute to report it so the Admin folks can fix it. It really helps them out a lot! It improves the site's quality.

Yeah old thread bumpers did that. There is an old thread bumper who bumps dozens of super old thread with no more relevance in present day.

Why do they do that, I wonder ... maybe 'nostalgia'? maybe they're upset about how "you kids-today don't appreciate the old days ... how we had to make 'real contributions' before we could get any money' :hair:

I wish its requirement to bump an unanswered thread before allowing people to bump old threads and make threads so we can decrease this problem.

Yes after a time, they should be marked as "Not to be replied".

I mean, I miss Chatabout as much as the next person, but after a certain point, you've just gotta move on. The site closed, most of us didn't get paid in the end, and that's just how things work. :problem:

Anyway... on to new threads.

I have not seen a button here for unanswered threads. I like the one that Mylot has.

If you look at the header area of our home page you will see a link to "View unanswered posts". Have you seen that link?
