Re: ForumCoin Reward for up to 25 Posts Per Day

Thanks everyone for all your feedback, we are taking it on board even if we don't reply to it all publicly straight away.

Fish wrote:I don't like this change because I don't like the feeling of being limited

This change doesn't actually limit you or other members in any way. You can still make as many posts as you like (provided those posts meet our guidelines). The only change is that you will only earn ForumCoin, for the first 25 of those posts. As we said the vast majority of members never make more than 25 posts in 24 hours, so they won't earn any more or less as a result.

Fish wrote:Personally, I think this will encourage people to make even lower quality posts. They will add this site to their daily check list and say Okay, now make 25 posts and tick that one off the list. Obviously you'd want to go as fast as you can if you have that type of motivation.

Honestly that is also a concern on our side, however, this is a trial and we will tweak it as we go along if need be.

Thanks for your detailed reply DinheiroGelada

That is something we will be doing more of as time goes on.

When I say 'limited' even though I won't probably ever reach 25 in the day, I still don't like the feeling of 'what happens if today I am really bored and want to make 40 posts. I won't get rewarded for them all.' It's like me and unlimited cell data. I recently had to upgrade to unlimited data from my 5GB/month plan. Even though I rarely ever reached the 5 GB in a month, I still wanted to upgrade because I don't like the feeling of being limited.

And for the record, there was one month where I used more than 5 GB... That month I accidentally left my phone on cell data running videos. I woke up the next morning with 11 GB used. Ouch. But hey, unlimited is unlimited.

Like I said, If i never saw this post or the banner saying how many posts i've made, I would probably never even care or notice because I wouldn't even think there were limits.

I know what you mean and I am too a certain extent the same. I do like to have more than I need just so I don't have to worry to much about running out.

I suggested it way back in 2013: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=93. It would certainly work if there was more activity in the marketplace. Maybe combined with a raising of the payout threshold? Travis had an interesting idea, in that thread, where the amount of FC$ you could earn was capped by an FC$ bank. They only had $X to give out in a 24 hr period or something.

The idea will be interesting but it is not easy to code the plugin in such way and implement it.

There will no doubt be people post 25 low quality posts and leave but it does atleast limit the what we pay that users compared to if we allowed them to post an unlimited amount. It limits the abuse. We will be getting stricter when it comes to post quality now aswell because too many people are posting too many spammy, short, needless or off topic posts.

Restricting users earning of FC should help with the issue of users bumping old topics and burying new topics in hours. I still think a rule should be added in regards to that as usually there is a reason why topics drift to the later pages of a forum... usually because they are outdated or nothing is left to be said.

Topics get classed as posts in this change so users can't make 25 posts and then create a load of new topics to get around it because they have no other way to earn FC.

What I see is your trying to limit the low quality posts by adding the 25 posts limit a day, when in actuality your not limiting it at all, you just slowing the rate of getting them posted by adding this restriction. I still think the best idea would be to get 2 or 3 volunteer moderators, who can go around and rate the high quality posts and give something special to the people that get so many reputation points, from mods and admins, and the special thing, can again just be a rank, extra signature space, etc nothing that makes you as admins have to spend more money than you already are.

Adding the rule, would prevent people from bringing up old topics, and if they do, their post can just be deleted by the mods or admins, along with Coins taken away and a warning. Same thing with the one sentence topics, moderators and coins being removed.

See, I feel this is really about money and how your revenues are not enough to keep paying out the paypal or amazon to everyone, just put some more advertisements or like many people keep suggesting, add a Premium Membership of some sorts. Premium Members could have like a colored post background, No ads, colored names , colored username, etc. I mean don't get me wrong, I totally understand, one ad on the top can't generate enough to run the whole site.

I am new here but for whatever it's worth I think this is a brilliant idea for the following reasons:

- It would make the whole concept of pay-per-post sustainable
- Improve post quality and forum reputability
- discourage people who are merely looking for CashCows from joining FC

I think the mods are cool people as well so I give my support 100%, whatever that is worth here. :D

I think its a fair announcement, but you gotta see how it goes with the majority, I feel the people who are posting more than 25 per day, are actually posting in the general sections, zero content at all, though they are contributing to the activity, but not any worth in their posts.
So its a fair trial, lets see how it goes for you.

The idea what you have come up is very good and will eliminate spam posts. Even I have kept a limit on my forum that is a person can post only 21 posts for 12 hours.

Not yet, but it is an option that we will look at in the near future. I use a very similar service called Skim Links on my business forum and it works very well there, so will also consider that for here.

Something to consider though is this. I bet some people on this forum use other paid to post services like Postloop, Forum Wheel, Paid Forum Post or whatever that last one is called. On Postloop most forums only allow you to post 5 times a day as it is. Restricting to 25 may seem like a bad move sure but for those of us who are use to this from the different blogs and forums on Postloop what does it matter? Look at it this way... This will be a great way to see who the quality posters are and who really stays. That is how I would look at it and be just be thankful to have found a forum kind enough to give us a chance to earn a bit for our post and cash out. :)

OK well I think I noticed a bug. I had 7 forum coins and been posting in sections that have not been rewarding me yet it set added each tip to my 25 limit. Hows this fair?
