What games can you recommend for 8 year old?

Postby kat82 » 30 May 2025, 08:52

My boy seems to be addicted to phone games. Every time he seems me he is asking for my phone to play games. Whenever I tell him that I have no games on my smartphone he will tell me to install for him claiming that his friends play games from their fathers phone. Now I want to have some games installed and wondering what recommendations you have for me. Those that are best for an 8 year old boy.

If he likes puzzles and thinking games, you could try installing those. It’s smart and fun, and it helps with logic and problem-solving, which is a nice bonus.

When it comes to video games, I always play violent video games. But since we are talking about an 8-year-old... Make them play puzzle games like Zuma... Candy Crush... Bejeweled... Or something educational like Carmen Sandiego.

I think puzzle games or strategy games will definitely help them grow intellectually.

I am still convincing him to like the puzzle kind of games. Now that he is back to school, there is a relief because he rarely has time to ask for this since he is tired and needs some play when he comes back. But weekends hooo.

Lol that's since, puzzle games can be pretty boring for beginners. Maybe you can start with mixed games. Games that contains both action and puzzle solving. A perfect example is legend or Zelda and from you start introducing more puzzle games to him.

None that are on the phone are good for kids try getting a Nintendo DS and look at the brain academy games and cooking ones.

What's the Minecraft game about, is it just about building? Haven't played any of the games but seen videos about it, it makes me wonder if people just play it to build all through.

Yes that's true, but the problem is these games don't really educate the kids in anyway.

Minecraft can at least be non violent and constructive. You can't play it on a phone though, can you? He wanted phone games.

If you wanted PC games I'd have suggestions but I don't play games on my phone much.

For PC, Slime Rancher is a nice one- non violent and involves strategy.

I don't think you can, or at least i haven't seen any phone versions yet. Though there are building games like city island for mobile phones.
