Third Thumb is a prosthetic third thumb that attatches to your hand opposite your thumb. It allows you to grip things and manipulate objects better. It's controlled by the user's toes. It isn't attached surgically, and is part of a research project to help us better understand the way humans interact with prosthetic extensions.

So far it's just for research, but I wonder whether it will eventually become commercially available for people to use in addition to their regular thumbs, or to help people who are missing a thumb or part of a hand.
