The Esports Olympics will be a separate competition from the Olympics, similar to the Winter Olympics.

In test phase there was Fortnite but as a shooting game, not a battle royale mode where you shoot at others.

Yeah, but esports involve a lot of skill, strategy, and teamwork, just like traditional sports. Plus, not everyone connects with physical sports in the same way. Esports can reach a different audience, and can even promote healthy competition and community. And once it reaches the mainstream along with Olympics, the ads will flow to them ceaselessly.

I also think esports will give an opening for more physically disabled athletes to appear in the Olympics, as it isn't as physically demanding. I know there's the Paralympics, but viewership for it is a lot lower usually.

Maybe like racing games against other competitors, or games where the player has to do obstacle courses or hard parkour as fast as they can lol. I find shooting games super dull to watch.

Zwift is Bicycle Race game where players drive against each other. On chess they also play against each others.
