Indo-Japan Ties: Japan to ramp up Green Tech funding in India

Postby ptrikha21 » 30 Aug 2025, 13:45

During a recent visit by Indian Prime Minister Modi to Japan, the two nations solidified a significant partnership, with a new investment target from Japan of ¥10 trillion (approximately ₹6 trillion) in India over the next decade. This commitment builds on a previous target that was met two years ahead of schedule.

A key pillar of this renewed collaboration is the "Economic Security Initiative", which focuses on critical and strategic sectors, including "clean energy".
The initiative aims to promote resilient supply chains and joint projects in areas like semiconductors, green hydrogen, and carbon markets. This move is a clear signal of Japan's confidence in India's role in the global energy transition, and it leverages Japan's technological expertise with India's large-scale market and talent pool. The partnership aims to accelerate India's goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and demonstrates a shared vision for a sustainable future.

Yes, plus Indian success stories like Maruti, Hero Motors and more had a big Japanese backing and support.
Yet I wish (unapologetically) that someday, we in India also imbibe some of the honesty, decency and the discipline from the Japanese !

India and Japan have decided to work together more closely, and now Japan is aiming to invest ¥10 trillion in India over the next decade. This is a big step, especially since the initial target was met early. It shows Japan's great confidence in India's potential.

Their new plan is called the "Economic Security Initiative" and it focuses on key sectors such as clean energy, semiconductors and green hydrogen. They want to build joint projects and strengthen the supply chain. This is an opportunity for India to showcase its market power and talent.

The ultimate goal is to help India achieve 500 GW of renewable energy generation by 2030. This partnership is a great example of how two countries can work together for a better tomorrow. This is very encouraging news.
