Cricket although is a Game/ Sports more popular in South East Asia, UK, Australia, Africa and some other major countries in the world but it's more like a Business in India because in India Cricket is #1 and most popular so the market is Big and everything that is connected to Cricket is a Hit like Sports channels etc. There is even an exclusive app that only provide details about Cricket " Cricbuzz" and is so popular and even started it's paid membership for those that like to get In depth details and exclusive content.
Is there any Sports which is like a business in your country?

Sports is business everywhere. in america every sport is a business. there is nothing wrong with that. I think most of the sports are designed to be a business behind entertainment.

Well, the Indian Cricket board is the richest cricket board in the world and even provides funds for other sports like Badminton, Athletics etc.- which is a good thing.
The biggest money earner is IPL, for which the future sponsorship and TV / Net Streaming rights would give a big money boost to BCCI, as per some news.
I check out cricinfo.com, cricbuzz for updates but Times of India sports section is also fine for me.

Coming back to Sports as Business, I think we can say :

Sports : Business in <countryname>

Football: England : remember EPL

Baseball and Basketball: US

Rugby : New Zealand

Football: Madness in Brazil and Argentina

And well the list can go on.

Yes a big influence on the whole cricketing calendar although I sometimes feel that IPL should have been held once in two years as there are now too many IPL matches.
