Faucetpay was hacked and loss around 600,00$

Postby talkerbee » 15 Mar 2021, 09:12

I was really shocked as I open my faucetpay account today. Most faucet sites today use faucetpay in order to collect coins. I can't express my thought.

Here's some script written in the site,

Unfortunately, we have to announce that FaucetPay suffered today a loss of around $600,000. Our hot-wallets were compromised and the hacker had access to the funds. We are still investigating the issue and have shared all details with the local authorities.

I lost interest on the site when they started collecting high fees on their transactions. That is why I decided to quit using this site once and for all. Though, if it is true, I still wish for their fast recovery.

I have never used Faucetpay, I tried once Faucethub and I really didn't like it. I hope they can solve this and return the funds to their users. It was a big loss and I hope the site will survive this.

I am feeling sorry for the site and the members who were participating on this site for earning! Hacking can spoil the earning prospects of the site / admin and also for the members! Hope then admin will get the suspects booked as the solving the cyber crimes has become bit more easier than the past! All the best to all the people involved!

I hope they will come to the bottom of this and find the culprit behind it all. that is a lot of money that has been lost there and it's unfortunate for those who are part of it, i hope you will recover everything all the best.

Hackers are there everywhere and they pose a serious threat to all earnings and businesses that we do online. I have never used this site but it is quite concerning for those who use it. Even if the site recovers and the culprit is found and punished, the users will always feel insecure in future. The site will have to really revamp and work seriously on their security features.

This is one reason I never put my balance in any web based wallet and also never trust any site that plans on giving the interest out of the wallet balance.

Faucetpay is a micro wallet. This is mostly used for withdrawing small crypto payment from PTC site, faucets etc. Since I don't work on PTC and faucets, I never used faucetpay.

Glitch and the hacks are excuse. usually such sites get the payment of the users and then run away so never trust such type of the sites from what I have learned so far.

Thats why such sites need proper care, proper security and only should use cold storage. They should not have used hot wallet.

I'm so sorry for users that lost their cryptocurrencies :( . Is there a way to recover them? I'm supposing, due to the issue, faucetpay can't compare with binance, coinbase, poloniex. And surely is a custodial wallet. Don't you own your cryptocurrencies private keys? :?
