ToTW Hubpages VS Vocal Media - which one would you choose?

Postby anilmr » 30 Jun 2020, 17:20

If you have to choose between Vocal Media and HubPages, which one would you choose? Here is my list of Pros and Cons for HubPages and Vocal Media.
HubPages:
Pros:-

-No minimum word count
-Uses Paypal
-Earnings and views are updated daily
-You can post your article right away and don’t have to wait for the reviewer to post it.

Cons:-
-Can’t post already published articles from other websites
-Can’t post your own links in your article
-$50 payout which is quite high
-Earnings are mostly calculated by AdSense
-There are too many Ads are all over your article

Vocal Media:
Pros:-

-Easy to use
-You can post your own links
-Earnings and views are updated in real-time
-Amazon affiliate links can be used to earn money
-Can reuse old content from other websites

Cons:-
-$35 payout
-Doesn’t automatically save article
-$10 a month to be a Vocal+ member

Use both. Don't think as if we have too many good options. We are in corona times, every dollar counts no matter how quick or slow it comes.

I have not tried hub pages. I might give it a try.
Also with vocal it's 3.80 cents per 1000 views
what is the rate on hub pages?
also on vocal its updated stats once a day the views and money is updated.
Also you do not have to pay to write there,, you can be a free writer and
still get paid.

I am a recent member of Hubpages, I am still trying to understand how to earn there, they no longer have adsense and for that reason I read it is a slow earner now.
I haven't joined Vocal yet as I don't know how to get só many views and I am afraid it becames just a waste of my time.

You just have to write stuff people will want to click on. That is the key to making money there.
Also promote it in high traffic groups, to get even more views.
Post on forums etc.

I love hubpages for various reasons, its pays through paypal for one, stripe doesn't work in my country so I have no way of earning through Medium. If they pay through paypal I would jump into medium rightaway.

Medium pays more and payout threshold is lower. Havimg said that once you are established on Hubpages you keep getting passive income and I am able to cash out once in three months with doing anything.

It is adsense earning. In one day you can get 1 dollar and the next day it could be 12 dollar. Which is the power of adsense. You don't even need 1k views, just the right customer can earn you that in say 10 or even 100 views.

You are not getting more than 3.8$ per 1k view on vocal. You only get based on the reads and the views.

To make 12 dollars take a lot of views on adsense.
I know i have it on my blogs and 1000 views usually makes me 13 cents.
Adsense on youtube it a bit better but the average is 1 dollar per 1000 views.
Vocals value is higher since money is split to all writers

I made 12 dollar with under 200 views on my blog. If you are just making 13 cents that means you are just writing few random lines and content which is not good for readers. If me and hubpages and ehow and many others can make 12 dollars under 1k views, then you are the minority I guess. It's your optimization issue. There is a reason even 500 views on youtuube from US based top cities can earn you 20 dollar in adsense.

If I were to choose, I would go for vocal media. This is because they are not as strict as hubpages about reposting content from other site. Moreover, its payout is lower than that of hubpages and you can add your links to your article.

Yes, one advantage of submitting article to Vocal media is that they allow for reposting of a article that you have posted elsewhere, after confirming that you are the rightful owner of that article. But at the same time from my personal experience I can say that getting page views is extremely difficult at Vocal media.

For now, my earnings in Hubpages are very very low, I have 6 hubs so far but people there rarely comment and some don't retribute when we read and comment on their articles. What is your username there?

I appreciate you laying out the PROs and CONs. I don't know how I got this screwed up in my head but I thought that Vocal.Media did not allow Amazon affiliate links nor did they allow you to reuse old content. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, they certainly do allow you to repost articles that you have posted elsewhere, but you need to prove ownership of your article. I do not know what procedure you need to follow to claim ownership of your article, since I haven't yet submit any repost.

What you say is totally wrong. They check your article for the quality. If they find there is no quality in your article, they reject it. So please, don't spread wrong information.

The thing that would make most people choose HUBPages over Vocal are:
Number 1: Hubpages has proven itself. It's been around a long time.
Number 2: Anybody can join free. There is no $10 membership fee.

If you were testing the waters for legitimate writing opportunities wouldn't you pick HUBPages?

I have chosen Hubpages but so far it has been quite difficult for me to earn there, I already have 6 hubs but my earnings are just 4 cents, I still have to learn a lot about the site.

AdSense earning varies on your location and traffic quality , I think people with traffic from tier 1 countries could earn more with quality traffic

When I first started with HUBPages I was very active. I did what they call "HUB hopping". I got to know the community and the community got to know me. I would leave lots of engaging comments and they would be happy to interact with me. The writers would often return the favor by visiting my HUBs and leaving comments. Of course at that time, earning from Google Ad Sense was a lot easier. There were no Ad Blockers and stuff like that. I am not very active now but I do believe that it was because I was active in the beginning and HUBBERs got to know me, it helped my HUBs get on the radar. I earn passive income from my HUBs and since I don't really do much in the community any more, I'm happy with the earnings that trickle in. It's literally the only site where I have not published content in years, but I'm still getting paid for my writing.
