Re: How hard are you hit with inflation?

Inflation is "a fact of life"---Why is that?

I know 'the people who enforce it' (the ones who CHANGE the prices) say they have to because their costs rise ... you ask 'WHY the costs rise'; they tell you it's because of THOSE price-setters ... you ask THEM 'why they raise the prices'; they tell you that THEIR costs are rising ... and so on and so on (largely because 'the people who sell the refined supplies cost more than it takes to find the "crude" supply, and the people who find the "crude" have to USE the "refined" to get more of the "crude" ...)

But the root cause of inflation is probably 'more mouths to feed.'

(And the reason they call it "inflation" is because another major cause is 'printing more money---more empty air that "fills the balloon" with EMPTINESS!')

Most of the things have gotten dearer in the past 3-5 months and it's difficult to save money.

It is very bad here in Nigeria. With the new currency redesign, it's even harder to get money and people have cut down on spending too. This means less income for us even though prices of goods are still high.

In many countries, burger prices stays the same but the buns and patties became smaller and they added TVP which is soy flakes... In case of Burger king they now use horse.

:o Really?! OMG, I could never eat horse meat in my life, I am glad I don't eat at Burger King. In the name of profits they can do anything, I think the consumers should be informed about the meat they are eating.

I hope for better change as soon as possible then. Government in all countries should sit down and strategize on this matter.

Limit the profits of big supermarket chains could be a good strategy. Yesterday I read in the newspaper that supermarket chains are getting huge profits (3 millions more per day), this is insane, they are greedy and took advantage of this situation to increase prices and earn more.

Re: How hard are you hit with inflation?

Postby friendociate » 08 Feb 2023, 13:14

You understand why it's called "inflation"? I think it's because they 'fill the balloon (the economy) with meaningless nothing (money without value)'---my source says the "'enlargement of prices'"-sense was "originally by an increase in the ammount of money in circulation."

The word Inflation is built on ancient words that mean "to Blow Into." tagging xInflation xHyperinflation xInflationary xInflate xInflated xInflating xInflates xInflatable xDeflate xDeflated xDeflating

So would xDeflation (releasing money from the system) not be the solution?

And how would we eliminate the money? This may not seem 'possible' right now, but I think it would involve a) not having ANY money that's not assigned to paper-bills (so 'making change for a Twenty' is actually buying that Twenty-Bill with the bills that add up to $20), possibly even b) going back to the gold standard America used to have.

(Do other countries back their currency with gold or other precious metals, or does 'what I hear about The Dollar being the world's standard currency' mean that everyone bases their money's value on the American dollar?)

When I graduated from High School I got a job with Northrop Aviation building jigs and fixtures for assembling Airplanes and Inter Continental Missles for less than $2 an hour. Now my wife and I collect Social Security of $2,500 a month for sitting on our hands in front of our 55" UHD Smart TV.

I don't think inflation is so bad after all is said and done.
