I think people bet a lot in horse racing and it is legal in India as far as I know. It is addictive and many people have ruined their life with it. Horse racing can be considered as sports betting to some extent.
Betting in other sports is not legal in India but we hear a lot of it going in an illegal way. A good way would be to legalize it and earn some revenues from it.

In Portugal It is possible make bets on sports online, there are several site's where It is possible bet in any kind of sport. My husband uses 2 portuguese sites and he often request money from it.

Here in the northeast part of the united states they just approved sports betting for our area. I won't be betting on sports with them but i may get into a friendly work pool weekly where there is 2 or 3 winners depending on how many participates there are

There are online and offline that are either approved or not. It's just the government who says its illegal or not when they don't regulate or not in control of those betting. Although, in our area it is know to have the small betting on sports.

I wish but that's not possible in India. Our government has some very impractical and strict rules in money matters. We have all kind of betting activities going on but illegal. The government is losing revenue and government employees earning from backdoor.
