You are right with the addiction because I used to bet on horse races before. I really enjoyed it but I lost interest when the horses got fewer and the dividends got smaller.

If you've lost interest because of smaller potential winnings then, I might say, good for you. There's higher chance of losing than winning in any gamble. And it has some skills if someone won consistently which is possible in the popular sports like football or basketball.

Yes, except for horse racing there is no sport in India where on can bet legally bet and win the money! Now a days betting here also attracts a lot of tax from Government in the form of GST!

Indian government is planning to allow sports betting in certain sports. I am not sure if the government will succeed but in my views there is no harm since it's already been going on illegally for long time and the government is losing revenue. After all it's legal in most countries.

You are right but many illegal things are going on it means government allow all these. I am not in favor of any type of gambling.

We have got few Licensed Casinos in India where one can play games involving gambling. Gambling any where other than these places on Lotto like games is illegal!
