Money can make people happy if they have a heart that can be contented. I am fortunate to have that attitude that I am happy when the money is enough.

Maybe in India, but soft-drinks in America cleared the dollar-mark (for 2L anyway) AGES ago!

Although the price is more than a dollar but now they have reduced the prices

In Nigeria, a dollar can buy small items such as street food. It might buy a two weeks data subscription.

Re: What would YOU buy for a Dollar?

I think I'm trying to 'dig down' to the "true value" of a dollar.

The word "Dollar" (I know it means 'that American currency' to the international audience, but to Americans it means 'cash money' ) is named after the daler, taler or thaler, an abbreviation of Joachimstaler (literally "gulden of Joachimstal," silver coin minted from a mine near Sankt Joachimsthal in the Erzgebirge Mountains in northern Bohemia).

Americans used the word dollar to refer to 'coins like that' (which included the Spanish peso or "piece of eight" (which I think is why the dollar-sign is drawn 'that way' ($)) ... other theories say the $ was based on the picture on the Spanish peso (The Pillars of Hercules, stamped with a scroll) or it might have evolved from writing PS to notate the currency (the P & the S gradually merging)).

(tagging for search: xDollar xDollars XDollarToDoughnuts xTopDollar xBetYourBottomDollar xDollarDiplomacy xPetrodollar xSandDollar xSilverDollar)

Speaking of 'digging down to the true value,' the original dollars were "Promissory Notes" that carried the value of a precious metal (kept in the safe of the bank-owner who issued the Promissory Note).

So I guess my question is really, "How deep would you dig for a dollar's worth of gold?"

:x I'm wanting to return value to the dollar (or whatever you call the money that's common where you live).

The word Money is bilt on ancient words that mean "Advise, Warn, Admonishing Goddess (Monitor ... as Moneta was the title of the Roman goddess Juno, whose temple was the location of the machines that Minted Coins).
