Mising up slang is common. My late husband was from The Bahamas. I can't tell you how many times we confused each other with slang words. :lol:

For me, growing up there were only 2 kinds of salads.
-Conch salad (a Bahamian dish)
-Potato salad (American southern comfort food)

In Miami, Florida, the Bahamian community is very active.
My dad was from The Bahamas.
My mom was American, from the South.

Those salads were at EVERY holiday.

Oh wow, sounds delicious. Over here when you mention salad, it's usually the one made with cabbage, carrots, cucumber, eggs cream and so on.
