Michelle Yeoh played multiple roles on this short film.

Postby Netherrealmer » 22 Feb 2026, 10:21

Movie director Sean Baker decided to make a short film starring Michelle Yeoh, and it's filmed in Malaysia. Michelle Yeoh is a Malaysian actress, but she always played Chinese roles in Hong Kong and Hollywood. This is the first time she actually plays Malaysian. And she will play multiple roles in here. Even though she's like on her 60s, she's gonna play roles that are way too young for her. Her roles in this movie are a 20-year-old waitress, a Gen Z food blogger, a middle-aged food critic, a singer, and a Muslim chef for a small restaurant. She played roles here that are too young for her or too old for her. She wants to show in 10 minutes, she have huge range as an actress. I wish she pushed the envelope and make one of her roles male.

That looks like an interesting experiment!
I hope this one gets a good reception among the audience.

I kind of wish they used youth filters on Michelle Yeoh on the scenes where she plays the waitress and uh vlogger because I have a feeling those characters are supposed to be Gen Z, and Michelle Yeoh is, you know, 60 years old. youth filter will not make her look awkward on that pink wig.

This is the first time I saw something about her real country, Malaysia. I didn't even know she was Malaysian because, you know, on her movie she's always Chinese.

I think we have to applaud Michelle Yeoh for acting as both Chinese and Malaysian.

well in the 90s most Americans thought all Asians are either Japanese or Chinese, so no wonder she auditions for Chinese roles  , it took her turning 60 to play her actual nationality
