Jon Hamm - turn the lights off - Meme

Postby gwolf666 » 19 Jan 2026, 21:26

It's unknown who first uploaded the video to TikTok and made it go viral, but it's known to have been someone from Russia. The song is "Kato - Turn the Lights Off," and users from Russia and Ukraine managed to spread it worldwide to the point that it's a common trend everywhere. But as I mentioned at the beginning, it all started on TikTok. The scene is from the actor Jon Hamm in the series "Your Friends & Neighbors," in episode 8 of the first season, when, after all his problems, he just starts dancing (completely high on cocaine and alcohol) with a face that says he doesn't care about all his current problems; he's just relaxing and letting himself go with the music. The original music in the club isn't the song from the meme; it's another one. I don't know exactly which one it is, but the one they used in the viral meme is the one I just mentioned at the beginning.

I think Javier Bardem looks much more like Jeffrey Dean Morgan than John Hamm does.

Speaking of Jon Hamm, I think he should play Omni-Man if there is a live-action Invincible.

He's a good candidate. I think if J. Jonah Jameson were younger and worked out for a year or two, he could be the perfect candidate. I can't imagine him without that signature mustache of his.

Well, Jonah J. Jameson was the voice actor of Omni-Man, but he's too old to play him in live action. And Jon Hamm is definitely one of the best candidates.

great story of how a meme is born and spreads around the world! 🌍 It's amazing how a short film clip from the US, mixed with music from Denmark ("Turn Off The Lights" by Kato), and shared by Russian and Ukrainian users, can become a global culture through TikTok.

The "turn the lights off" meme featuring Jon Hamm originated from a _Mad Men_ scene, humorously edited for comedic effect. It spread widely online, symbolizing dramatic or seductive moments, influencing internet culture and meme creation trends.

Did you use AI too? I can't believe how many people here used AI to answer everything. What idiots! They gain nothing, on the contrary, they lose everything.

You are right. Mindless use of AI is counterproductive. Steals one's authenticity.
