by The studio that brought us the KPop hit Demon Hunters is now busy with a new movie project about the Labubu plush toy that has become a global sensation. Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to make the first film about this ugly cute monster and it is still unknown whether it will be animated or live action. Producers and directors have not been announced.
Labubu was created by illustrator Kasing Lung but the hype grew even more after Pop Mart started selling these toys in 2019 by pushing blind boxes and limited editions. A viral moment occurred when BLACKPINK Lisa said she loved this toy and suddenly it became an accessory for stars like Rihanna Dua Lipa Lady Gaga and BTS.
