In real life the woman decided to not attend the date because he creeps her out. This movie is set in an alternate Universe where she decided to go with a date with him. Its a what if scenario

I just watched it and It focuses on the survivor instead of the killer. he is not portrayed as a tragic figure no glamorized. They just show is a manipulative creep who uses his looks and charisma to seduce women to their deaths. The murder scenes are offscreen so the presentation is classy. Its more of a thriller than horror
