Baby Reindeer is and insane true to life story

Postby Netherrealmer » 12 May 2024, 19:23

So, the top show on Netflix right now in the US, Australia, and the UK is this gem called "Baby Reindeer." And let me tell you, it's not your typical Christmas flick. Nah, it's all about this comedian dude named Richard Gadd. Back in his twenties, he was hustling as a stand-up comic, but man, couldn't catch a break.

One day, while slinging drinks at a pub, he meets Martha, this older Scottish lady who's like a walking rain cloud. Feeling sorry for her, Richard hooks her up with a free cup of tea, and bam, instant friendship, right? But here's the kicker—Martha goes from grateful to straight-up obsessed, bombarding poor Richard with more emails than your spam folder can handle.

This Martha character goes full-on stalker mode, messing with Richard's love life and even getting physical with his ex and current girlfriends. And get this, despite all the crazy, Richard can't shake her off! It's like he's got this weird case of Stockholm syndrome.

Even if Martha is ruining his life, she feeds his ego

But when Martha starts messing with his family, that's when Richard finally hits up the cops. "Baby Reindeer" doesn't hold back, showing Martha's villainous side and Richard's own comedy of errors. The show's got everyone mind blown, even the real-life Martha, who shows up on a talk show trying to spin her side of the story. Spoiler alert: she's just as nuts as you'd expect!

It's a good show, but a difficult watch at times, especially episode 4. It's about much more than Martha's stalking.

The rape scene is really disturbing and it shows why most male rape victims dont report to cops.

I've watched this show and agree with the comments in this topic. It is a difficult show to watch and it does make you think. It's note the kind of series you watch and then forget about it soon afterwards. It was to be expected, but it is unfortunate that the show has resulted in people trying to figure out who the participants are in real life.

Yes, I wish people had left well enough alone. It was upsetting for the comedian to have people stirring things up again.

We we are living season 2 even if it doesnt exist because real life Martha shows up on tv.

She threatens to sue Netflix but here is the thing, Netflix never used her real name, People only knew it its her because she makes social media rant and she did this interview. Now she is going to do a paid, I live meet and greet. I saw the interview and she lied a lot, she said she never saw the show but made an episode by episode commentary on her facebook.

In short, no one bothered her, she went out alone to talk about this and take charge and now she is basically looking for a monetary reward, it's like she saw her opportunity to make money, it could be this or it could be a bigger reason, but at first glance it looks like this

I wonder how the stalker feels like that the woman who played her won Emmy's and the man she stalked won Emmy's too

The real Martha is just out to make money she just seeing it as an opportunity. You know people just wants to take advantage of situations especially if it would favor them in the long run
