In this new series, set after the original ended in 1997, Professor X goes with Lilandra to her planet for a cure, leaving Magneto to lead the X-Men. Magneto as a superhero is a welcome change, despite the odd romance with Rogue, who's frustrated by her inability to be physically intimate due to her powers.

Fans are unhappy with this romance because Rouge has always been with Gambit. I think Rouge dumped Gambit because her powers kills mutants and humans with skin contact. Magneto is the only person in the world she can have sex with. He have immunity against her powers.
The series captures the essence of teamwork, unlike the Wolverine-centric X-Men movies. Even minor characters like Morph, Bishop, and Sunspot get more spotlight, with updated looks while retaining their 90s costumes. It's a continuation, not a reboot, and the first two episodes are promising with great action, drama, and politics.
The X-Men team has over 80 members, so not everyone makes it to the screen in each iteration. Hopefully, future seasons will feature characters like Colossus, Psylocke, and X-23 more prominently.
