Comic Books

Postby sweerie_banana » 28 Nov 2023, 04:50

Hi, are you a fan of reading Comic Books? I've always been a fan since I was a kid, I just don't read them of much of late.

When was the last time you read one, and did you love it? I've always been a fan of Spider man hence Miles Morales, the Spider-Man from the Ultimate Universe, has been a standout character. His solo series explores his adventures and challenges as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Please share with me some of the Comic Books I should buy.

Yes, I like comics. I enjoy some Marvel (mostly Hawkeye and The X-Men), and DC (Batman, Catwoman and Wonder Woman). I also read indie comics. Lumberjanes is a fun young adult series. I also liked Paper Girls. The most recent one I read was last week- it was A Basket Full of Heads (a horror comic). It was fun, a bit gruesome.

I used to go to a comic shop, but there are hardly any of those left in Australia. Sometimes I buy them online (like through ebay or online book shops). Digital comics are cheaper, and you can buy them from the publisher's websites. Comixology used to be a really good, cheap way to buy them, but then Amazon bought it and now it sucks.

I prefer dc these days. Marvel comics is unreadable. They turned Cylops, Wolverine and Jean Gray in a Polyamourous bisexual couple. She use her powers to make Wolverine and Cyclops make out while she watches...

Peter Parker divorced Mary Jane and starts dating Silk... a Korean Spiderwoman.

I was a fan of Tarzan, Tintin, Asterisk and Obelisk in my teens. I also used to read a lot of comics in my native tongue.
But there had been many years I have not been reading any of them.

If you are interested in older digital comics you can get some pretty cheaply on Etsy. There are also other sellers on there selling their own independent comics.

The comic book industry has often introduced changes to characters and narratives to reflect evolving cultural norms and diverse perspectives, @Netherrealmer.

Etsy provides a platform for independent comic creators to reach a wider audience. You can discover unique and original content that may not be available through mainstream channels. @Jem

I have not really read comic books though, over here they are not that common unless you are reading them online.

Yeah, I know. For preference though, I like to find creators through there, but then purchase from their own website if they have one. That way the creator doesn't have to pay Etsy's fees.

Since you like horror, you might enjoy Afterlight Comics.

I have seen a few comics of Avengers and a few more from Marvel Comics which were expensive.
Some India based comics are more price effective for us.
Some are Billoo, Chacha Chaudhary, Pinki and a few more.
I might share a picture after some time.

At one time in my life I had over 500 comic books. I got them from a shop back in the day. I sold most of my collection and have a few here and there left. I always look for more at tag sales and auctions
