The Karate Kid franchise decided to add that hated remake to the canon

Postby Netherrealmer » 27 Nov 2023, 00:02

During the 80s Karate kid became a huge franchise. Its about Daniel Larusso, a New Jersey teen who moved to California who got bullied by students of a Popular Karate gym in California. He was saved by Mr. Miyagi who is a maintenance man from Japan. He thought him Karate and he won a Karate tournament. Its a box office trilogy.

In the 90s they try to revive Karate kid with the Next Karate kid. In this movie, There is a falling out between Mr. Miyagi and Daniel. So Mr. Miyagi trained Julie. Played by Hilary Swank who became a huge actress. It flopped but became a cult classic and turned Hillary Swank into a big actress.

Karate kid died as a franchise when Pat Morita, the actor who played Mr. Miyagi died.

In 2010.... Will Smith decided to launch his son Jayden as an actor. So use the powers of Nepotism and make his Karate kid remake..... Its about Dre Parker, an American boy who got bullied after he and his mom immigrated to China. Dre was trained by a character played by Jackie Chan how to do Kung Fu to beat his Chinese bullies. Fans hated this. It was a box office hit but it bullied Jayden Smith from making sequels. Also why is it titled Karate kid... Jackie Chan is teaching Jayden Kung Fu instead of Karate.

=====

in 2018 YouTube Launched Cobra Kai. A tv show about Johnny Laurence... He is the villain of the first Karate kid movie. In this show he became a has been, His Karate career failed, he is broke and Divorced. His life is miserable. Until he saw a teen boy get bullied. He teach the boy Karate and it revived the Karate kid franchise. It became so popular Netflix purchased in from YouTube. Its now on its 6th and final season.

What people love about Cobra Kai is on how every single Karate kid character returned and got reprised by their original actors. I swear Cobra Kai is one of the best Netflix shows and it didn't get canceled. It will have a proper ending.
-----

A new Karate Kid movie is now having open audition from teens around the world. On this movie Daniel Larusso, the original Daniel Larusso will meet Jackie Chan's character from Karate kid 2010. Karate Kid 2010 is now part of the Canon.

This movie will continue where Cobra Kai have left off. if you are 15 to 21... You can submit an audition. This new Karate Kid movie will cast an unknown. Role is also open to all genders. They want the best kid to get the role. You must look like a teen and must have a Karate background.

My theory is Daniel Larusso the original Karate Kid will have a student... Who will become a rival of the student of Jackie Chan's character. So we have 2 leads.

The one with Hilary Swank was pretty bad. I haven't seen the Jayden Smith one yet, although I'd like to, just to compare. I agree though, it is weird to call it Karate Kid if he's doing Kung Fu.

Kobra Kai is cool.

The show's ability to reintroduce these beloved characters and continue their stories has resonated strongly with both longtime fans and new audiences.

I have watched one Karate Kid movie, the original one. It was niche. However, I never watched other Karate Kid movie, I was never interested. I did not even know one of the movies in this Franchise also had Hillary Swank. I will go and find that movie.

Yes, Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith did act together in the 2010 film "The Karate Kid."

I'm going to watch After Earth since I've never watched it.

Embracing diversity like having female actors in powerful and action-packed roles. It's a great step forward in acknowledging that women can be strong, skilled fighters on screen.

One of the themes of the show is mentorship as depicted by parents child relationship and protege- progeny relationship. That has made Cobra Kai easily relatable to all persons.

Exploration of how guidance, whether from parents or mentors, shapes individuals adds a layer of realism and emotional depth to the storyline. It taps into universal experiences, making it easy for viewers to connect with the characters and their journeys.
It's this human element that elevates Cobra Kai beyond just a martial arts series and makes it so compelling for a diverse range of viewers.
