K Pop

Postby relcap » 12 Sep 2023, 06:31

Are you familiar with Blackpink? It's a popular K pop group in Korea but now trending internationally. Kpop is a korean brand of singing with dancing characterized by melodious and bumpy movements. K pop is the medium used to promote Korean culture in the world. K pop artists perform in concerts but bringing with them korean fashion and culture for the rest of the world to patronize.

What's fascinating about K-pop is not all K-pop singers are Koreans. I mean, you just gave BLACKPINK as an example. One of the members is Asian American, and the other member is Thai. I think many K-pop groups are including someone who is not from Korea, so they can promote in certain countries. For example, there are K-pop groups with Japanese and Chinese members, so they will have a Japanese speaker or Chinese speaker when they tour in China and Japan. And then they include Asian Americans or Asian Australians, so they have an English speaker when they visit English-speaking countries. There is even a K-pop girl group with an Indian member, because they want to get billions of people from India to support.

K Pop is very popular with youth and it has gained global popularity. Be it the Army of BTS or STAY of Stray kids, they have fans in each corner.
I agree with above post by @Netherrealmer, they have people from different origin now. Aria is second Indian female from Kerala, India joining them after success of Syria Lenka.

Yes, I am familiar with them. My younger sister is a fan. I am not a big fan of Kpop, but I listen to some of them at times, such as BTS.

I think that BTS was the first one that became so popular with the global youth. My daughter was in preteen when BTS was topping the charts and she would proudly call herself Army for BTS. After them, many more groups have become global favourite.

I am familiar with a couple of K Pop bands like BlackPink, BTS, and Momoland but I am not familiar with the kind of music they create.

I am into Kpop eversince, but I haven't followed no one until 2019, I met BTS and became a BTS Army. Up until now, I am a BTS Army, I support watching their contents and concert. However, watching the concert only happens online. Kpop and their songs, gives me energy. I feel I become young again. It makes me happy. BTS, specifically , is one of the reason why I never give up in life, because I dream of seeing them perform live. I want to see them in person in the near future. Kpop has been one of my energy and inspiration and BTS is the one I love to support.
