Actor's strike

Postby Netherrealmer » 14 Jul 2023, 10:52

Actors will make Hollywood get worst, Hollywood is still going through a Writer's strike, Now actors are going on strike. Why? They are not getting royalties from streaming service earnings. Also many actors received offers from big producer to sell their likeness. Their likeness will be turned into a CGI actor they have no ownership of. The CGI actor will be used for tv shows and movies.... Even after they die. Bruce Willis who dementia got offers to sell his likeness but he declined.

Fran "the nanny" Drescher is the President of all Sag actors. Made her announcement

South Korea and Brazil will make a lot of money from Netflix....

I saw a headline about this earlier today but I couldn't stop to learn more. Well, thanks for the update here. So who is going to agree to this? Bruce Willis is right.

Good for them. Studios are being real sh*tty and saying that they're dragging out the strike so writers will eventually run out of money and be homeless. They have no consideration for their writers at all. Maybe with the actors striking as well, this will actually get somewhere.

It is time for other movie industries to do a quick cash out.

I'm glad the writers are standing up for themselves - they deserve better! This week, I also saw on CNN news that some actors such as Susan Sarandon have joined the strike in solidarity with the writers

No writers strike is bad, So many tv show seasons and movie sequels are held hostage and could even get canceled. Movie and TV industry are not willing to listen and will rather replace strikers with Chatgpt and non union writers.

Only South Korea and other countries will benefit from it. Actor's strike is understandable they are being replaced by A.I. They will be replaced by life like AI

I know what you mean, and obviously, we'll be left waiting ages for series and movies to be completed. However, I totally get the plight of writers as well. Here's why the writers are striking as far as I understand, and if I were them I'd do the same, especially when you consider how much each of the big name stars are paid to bring to life what they have written:

The unions are concerned about contracts keeping up with inflation, residual payments in the streaming era and putting up guardrails against the use of AI mimicking their work on film and television shows.

I don't think it's asking too much at all.

Hollywood executive said he rather see writers being homeless than listen to them. Many people are asking why actors are on strike, they are millionaires.... Well only 2% of actors are rich and famous. Character actors, extras, stunt men and indie actors are considered actors too. A nurse probably make more money than a small part actor.

When people think of actors, they seem to think everyone is Tom Cruise or Scarlett Johansson. Most actors are not rich at all. If they seem glamorous, it's because they are sponsored.

The demands being made are actually pretty reasonable. Increase wages, paid breaks, revenue sharing, fair compensation for background actors, benefits... I mean, in any other job, most of their demands would be mandatory and companies would get sued for not doing those things. Studios don't really have an excuse other than greed to reject the demands.

Tv networks are so desperate for content, they greenlit a Bachelor season for senior citizens. A cooking contest for drag queens,Dungeons and dragons tournament of drag queens, A reality competition contest for potters, zombie apocalypse simulation, another city will have their own real housewives,a reality show about storage rents.... LOL and a Hotel make over for Drag queens

 The actors being replaced by A.I is kind of creepy, its like real life Joan is Awful

Things look towards getting worse in Hollywood.
I think it would take some good protest and maybe some Governmental intervention.

I had not heard about actors going for strike. But yes, writers were on strike and it got some headline attention too. Things don't look very promising with all these. Hopefully, now actors too joining the strike with writers will bring some impact.

I hope the actors should continue striking until their grievances have been met by the Hollywood. It's really disgusting for not receiving the rewards of your toil and struggles.

Supporting actors want more money. Apparently, most cannot cover standard living expenses from their fees.
Artificial intelligence is taking on more and more work. Netflix is hiring artificial intelligence specialists. Netflix has previously used artificial intelligence to make the platform better and attract more subscribers. Now it will use it to make shows.
