Do you watch movies in languages other than your native language?

Postby Jem Smith » 30 Apr 2023, 07:48

If you do, do you prefer to watch them with subtitles or dubbed versions?

Personally I like the variety of watching films from other countries sometimes, and I usually prefer them to be subtitled, unless they're animated, in which case I'd rather watch the dubbed version. I have to be in the zone to pay attention when I watch them though, so I will choose something in a language I understand if I'm going to be doing something like eating while I watch it so I don't miss anything when I look away from the screen.

I'm a language geek so I always watch my foreign shows/movies in their original language. I love getting exposure to languages even if it's just a few random words. Plus I find that original versions are usually much better than the dubbed versions. I'll only watch dubbed stuff if I'm watching with someone else and they prefer to watch the dubbed version.

I watched Norway and German SF series. I watched few Korean and Bollywood movies. Some were good and some bad. Those bad I stoped watching after 15 minutes. I always use subtitles on english language.

solo inglese for me. They never leave those subtitles on long enough that I can read them and still watch the show.

I watch movie in other languages other than my native language even though it will be more easy for me watching in my native language but I do download the subtitle while watching in other languages, through films you can learn other people's culture without travelling there.

I can watch movies of different languages and I can still pick about what they really mean or acting about. The facial expressions, body languages and the translations that comes beneath the Images on the screens also helps alot

For me i really do not mind the language though, the most important is that it has good storyline. I have watched movies and series from Thailand, korea, china, japan, India and so on.

I always prefer the original version, to say the truth I can't stand dubbed versions, I prefer to read the subtitles. The only exception goes to animated movies that I usually watch with my kids.

Not really. I watch movies mostly in my second language because it helps me improve my language skills, exposes me to diverse storytelling, and adds a fun challenge to the movie-watching experience.

I prefer watching a dubbed version I can't read subtitles and be keen on the movie. Subtitles can be hectic I prefer dubbed ones but they need to be dubbed well. I find myself hating done dubbed movies because they havent been one well.
