I saw a post in a Facebook-group I don't know why I'm a member-of, linked to a blog that said, "5 minutes ago! Millions of people cried over the sudden death of “America’s Got Talent” Simon Cowell" (and the blog was essentially just 'this picture' stacked over & over & over above a video of someone "reporting" the rumor)"

I searched the web to verify (one way or the other), and saw:
• HITC's Report that it's a Death Hoax
• SK votes HOAXMediaMass votes HOAX
• Talent Recap votes HOAX
• Snopes votes ... well, they mention an earlier HOAX
• PBK News votes HOAX
• Genius Celebs (as there hasn't yet been any official statement to The Media) votes HOAXSPIELTIMES votes HOAX, and explains why it's such a popular HOAXDukes Media TVsays[center]

The word "Hoax" comes from a wordroot that means "Conjurer, Juggler, Cheat, Impostor" (or maybe directly from "Hocus-Pocus"---a perversion of the sacramental blessing Hoc est corpus meum "This is my body," and a common name for a Juggler's Trick) - same wordroot as Hoaxed, Hoaxing, Hoaxes

The photo is obviously a fake, photoshopped photo. I feel like the rumor of his death comes up once every few years. It's the same with Jackie Chan... people seem to think it's funny to spread rumors about celebrities dying...

What a cruel rumour! I never saw it, but if I had I wouldn't have fallen for it unless I heard it from a trusted source. I just don't know why people think this sort of thing is ok.

Well, his face did change quite a bit; giving birth to conspiracy-theory that he's been replaced by a clone! ... no rumors that I can find (so you heard it here first?), but ...

Somebody made a lot effort to spread this fake news. For me this is in rang of fake Obama interview. Even there is a lot of tools, fake news sometimes don't attract to much attention.
