Do You Still Have Cassette, CD or VCD?

Postby RicAngelo » 28 Feb 2023, 14:32

I dont live in spotify era, you just need to make your own playlist and voila you can hear your favorite song of all times then. I live when Cassette, CV or VCD was still exist, i still remember i have to save my own money that i got from my dad for a week just to bought one Cassette. The happy feeling after bought it is still remind the same until now. Yesterday, my mom told me to move my cassette, CD and VCD collection, because she want to clean that room, and i look into each cassette that i have and its remind me about a story of it. A love story, a friendship story and of course sad stories (when someone that you love, didnt love you back), oh the good old days.

After that my wife asked me to make sure of every cassette, cd and vcd are running well, but unfortunely we dont have the player, so we cant sure that if still works or not. but my wife has a plan to make this "treasure" safe, she wants to buy special case for all of them.

Back to my question, do you still have cassette, cd or VCD? is it still working? Do you remember how much money do you spent for that? i still remember the price of Cassette, around $1- $2 that time, VCD around $3 and CD around $3 - $5. Even now we can easily jump into one song to another in one click but the experience that i got when using Cassette, CD or VCD was amazing that time. How about you guys?

I have a VCR. I watch a lot of movies, and still have a large collection of tapes, some of which aren't available in other formats. At some point I'll get around to digitising them.

I still have some CDs but I no longer buy them, even though I will keep some that I already have.

A lot of people are buying vinyls now, it is a vintage thing that may be worth money in the coming years.

What does VCD stand for? Is it the same as a VCR? VCR = video cassette recorder.

I have kept some of the cassettes for keepsake. My daughters find them very interesting and weird :D . As far as CDs are concerned, I had many but left with very few. I have recycled them into some art and craft ideas. While I have them, I don't use any one of them.

Thank you. I don't think they were a thing in Australia. Probably some people had them, but they were never very popular here.

I have all of them but I don't use them anymore, except for the vinyls. I still find it peaceful to listen to classic songs while eating or making your breakfast in the weekends.

Well, I had already disposed my defective CD player
All my CDs of music and movies were also thrown away. I only watch movies in Netflix and listen to music in Spotify or YouTube channel.

In those days I was mad to buy a Sony Plain Audio cassette & record my favourite songs . It will be done in a Music shop .
Now I don't have cassettes or VCR
I am enjoying songs in My Zebronics Rainbow...
I have 4200 songs in my Mobile Phone itself..

Nowadays it is getting hard to get even DVDs, streaming platforms buy the rights to the films, as a result, they are not released on DVD and anyone who wants to see them will have to pay for streaming. As the movies are not all on the same streaming platform, you would have to pay for several platforms to access the different movies. DVD is a much more democratic option.

My late husband had all of them: cassettes, CDs, video tapes, etc.. When he passed away, different kids took different things as keepsakes.

Yes, I own quite a few CDs, which one of these days I will get around to digitising. I like having them, because I can look at my music collection and I'm less likely to forget what I have. I've even got a few cassettes somewhere, but that's just for sentimental reasons since I don't have a cassette player. I have DVDs too. Streaming services get rid of things, sometimes without warning, so I like to have a backup.

I still have some CDs and DVDs. My father still has a few cassettes at our parental home.
I think at one point those CDs costed 100 to 200 Rupees, but DVDs were costlier.
Sometimes 300 to 500 rupees.
Later their cost increased as well.
But since 2013, we have hardly got any DVDs as well.
